Welcome to our version of once upon a time, where we are excited to have CullensTwiMistress and Maplestyle with us today, as they Pitch their new fic, a collaboration that takes us underground…to a very special moment in time!
A collaboration between Maplestyle and CullensTwiMistress
Missy: We started writing Seven Forty-Three back in December after Maple sent me a message with a pretty little bunny she’d been thinking about writing. We discussed it, joking around about how hot it sounded and about some fantasies that sometimes need to stay that way.
Maple: At some point, we threw caution to the wind and decided to write a one shot, not really knowing where exactly it was going to go.
Missy: Maple’s bunny was basically one scene inspired by her frequent public transit trips. Oddly enough, that one shot has now turned into a multi-chapter fic with (thankfully) more plot than smut.
Maple: *glares at Missy* It was supposed to be a smutshot woman!
Missy: Pshh, like I was gonna do that!!
Maple: I do have to admit that I’m very happy with the entire thing. Out of everything I’ve written it’s probably the one I’m most nervous about, though.
Missy: I’m not nervous, but I am excited about it. I haven’t posted anything since January, so I’m a little giddy. (A lot, actually.)
Maple: I’m excited too, nervous, but excited. So much time went into this, more than I’ve ever spent on a story before. I just hope everyone likes it as much as I do!
Missy: There is only one way to find out. Besides, at least there aren’t any Hu-Cows…
Maple: That is very true!!!
Missy: Anywho… Once we got the document set up, it was hard finding ourselves in it at the same time, as we both keep different schedules. So, we decided to write it Round-Robin style, meaning that she would write and that I would add to whatever she wrote and vice-versa, without each other knowing where the other one was headed within the plot. I have to admit, it was fun. Each time I went into the doc, it was like Christmas with new twists and turns waiting for me as this story took on a life of its own.
Maple: Yes, especially that one twist. *glares at Missy* I thought it was going to go one direction…she took it to a whole other level. I sat there stunned, thinking: “WTF am I supposed to do with THAT!?”
Missy: That was awesome! *grins* Once we had the major storyline worked out, we went back and fine-tuned the details, making it all pretty seamless. You guys will never know!! *cackles evilly*
Maple: It did turn the story into something else altogether, but something great…well, in our opinion.
Missy: This is the scene that started it all…
Excerpt from Chapter 1:
My foot twitches and I find myself nodding and bobbing my leg to the beat coming out of my headphones. Vedder is especially good live and this song makes all my girly bits light up and tingle.
I lick my lips and take a deep breath, feeling the music flow through me. The deep tones reverberate from my head all the way down to my toes and I lean my head back, eyes open and unfocused. I’m so busy trying to ignore Hot Sexpender Guy I don’t notice he’s moved a few feet closer to me. The subway has stopped a couple of times since he got on and more people have joined us on this morning’s trip.
I can’t help where my eyes roam, as again, like a magnet, they focus on his face. He’s all lean and angular, soft lips and bushy brows. His eyes are light blue and his lashes long and dark. He’s looking out the window somewhere behind me, so I take full advantage of this by taking in—and by that I mean seriously appreciating—as much of the view as I can.
His hair is a dishevelled mess and I briefly wonder where his usual fauxhawk has gone. Either way, the mess on his head looks good on him. The colour, a mix of browns and penny colours, seems natural, something unexpected when looking at the rest of him. I would have thought he’d have dyed it some other colour, but I’m grateful he hasn’t. I like it this way.
I let my eyes travel down his broad shoulders and strong arms, noticing how the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up and there’s ink on one of his arms that seems to cover most of it. I can see swirls of dark ink run up the side of his neck and I instinctively lick my lips, wondering what’s under the rest of his shirt.
His dark cargo pants hang low on his hips and he’s wearing Doc Martens that look like they’ve seen better days. I look down at my own feet and smile, knowing how loved those boots are by how beat up they look.
Crossing my legs, I tear my eyes away. I’m being completely ridiculous. This poor guy doesn’t deserve to be eye-fucked by some random stranger. I need help. And quick.
The train screeches to another stop and yet more people pile into the already full car. I briefly wonder why everyone wants the end cars, before realising that I, myself, will only sit at the front or back car. Seeing train derailments on TV has taught me it’s usually only the middle cars which get twisted together in burning piles of metal and plastic. If I’m going to go out, I’d rather not go out that way.
Somehow, through the shuffling and shoving, Hot Sexpender Guy is suddenly right in front of me. And by right in front of me, I mean, when I tilt my head down from where it’s been resting on the back of the seat and open my eyes, his crotch is right in front of my face.
Damn that’s awkward, and a little hot. I wonder if he’d notice if I sniffed him.
The train starts to move again, and he must not have been holding on tight enough to the bar as he lurches forward and almost falls right on top of me. Due to the placement of my hands holding my iPhone, his crotch presses into the backs of my hands. I hold my breath and try to move them away before I’m too tempted to cop a real feel.
My gaze lifts and I can see him staring out the window; he doesn’t glance down at me. I don’t know what this means; did he not feel it? Is he as embarrassed as I am? I huff out a breath, annoyed with myself. Even if I did manage to talk to this guy, he’s probably not going to want to put up with my brand of crazy. Fuck, even I get sick of it. I decide that for the rest of the ride to my stop I’m going to simply ignore him and read.
This is much easier said than done.
Missy: As you can see, these two are grown adults, living in adult situations and adult challenges. This story takes place in a Canadian city with a lot of nods to the Great White North, as both Maple and I wear our tuques proudly!
Maple: We really hope you enjoy reading the story as much as we enjoyed writing it. And, if you’ve got it, enjoy a Timmie’s while you do! 😉
Missy and Maple
Seven Forty-Three: Maps dictate where we go, but they don’t always take us home. City subway tunnels and dim street lights converge, bringing two people infinitely closer. Will a chance meeting lead them to forever? Maybe it was only a matter of time. Romance BxE M (WIP)
Every now and then a fic comes along that I’d wait forever for. There are authors I feel that way about as well, Lola Pops being one of them. It’s a good thing, too, because we did have to wait a while for We Were Here to finish up.
In my opinion, though, it was worth the wait. Lola writes a special type of angst. It’s real; we’ve all felt it – even if the particular events of the story are different to our own life experiences, the emotions they evoke resonate. Lola’s drama never, ever feels contrived.
In some ways, We Were Here starts with the end; the end of Bella’s stint as the popular cheerleader-every-girl…the end of her current, stagnant relationship. The end of an era. But it’s also the beginning of her new self, one that includes Edward. They’ve known one another forever, but their strained relationship evolves one night into something physical and very, very intense.
I have to cheer at a game tonight, my uniform is at home, and I have a Chemistry test third period. And I fucked Edward Cullen.
WWH’s Edward is broody and sexy, a graffiti artist. This increases the appeal because he is a)super talented and revered by everyone else in the game and b)a bad boy who could get arrested for tagging. He’s got a lot of backstory that plays into his personality, but you’ve got to read the story to find out what it is.
Because we meet Bella when she’s going through a major personal transition, she’s both frustrating and relatable. There were several times I got angry at her for making unwise choices, but taking her age and life into account, it’s extremely honest characterization. I really loved her, even when I didn’t like what she was doing. I remember doing some of that stuff at that age, too.
And, as usual, Lola fleshes out the cast with well-rounded, multi dimensional characters; Esme, Rose and Jake are especially awesome. It’s nice having people who add significantly to the plot without taking over. The dialog is spot on; the interactions between characters authentic and familiar.
I loved this story. I loved the kissing and the fighting, the butterflies and tummy aches. How it pissed me off and how it turned me on, how it made me want to cry, and sometimes even gasp a little. It was tender, rough, brutally real and achingly sweet.
We Were Here: Upon waking, there’s a brief, blissful period in which you don’t yet recall the sins of the night before, but eventually, you have to open your eyes. I’m Bella Swan, seventeen years old, cheerleader. This morning I woke up in the wrong bed. M Romance/Angst BxE (Complete)

Many thanks to Edwardsfangurl, Haystackhair, LovaOfTwi, Natalie and Mandy for sharing with us all today. We appreciate you sharing your love for these fics.
As a reader, I find that I’m pretty limited by my pickiness. I’ll read vampfic, AU, all human, ANYTHING, providing that the characters feel fleshed out and real, and that the story feels believable. That doesn’t have to mean realistic (though it can be), but that I can read each chapter and feel invested in these people and their journey. That can be hard to find, but Jonesn had me hooked from the very first chapter of Bear Creek Road.
In the early chapters, there isn’t much in the way of dialogue between Edward and Bella, but the intensity is cranked up to eleven as soon as they meet in chapter two. Jonesn has this great ability to create that heavy sexual tension, an irresistible pull that both characters feel almost against their will, and she writes it beautifully. She also managed to do something that’s very difficult to do in my opinion, which is to write a relationship that is based on sex to begin with, but convincingly deepens into love.
When Bella finds out that her fiancé is cheating on her with her best friend, she doesn’t just run away. This girl doesn’t do things by halves. Instead, she runs to a small town in the middle of nowhere, buys an old, run down house that’s falling apart, and sets about trying to fix it up. Maybe she feels like she can’t fix her life, so a house is something more tangible. Anyway, when the realtor, Alice, hooks her husband and brother up with the job of rewiring the place, and from the second Bella lays eyes on quiet, bearded Edward, it’s clear that there’s something powerful between them. At first, it’s major attraction and chemistry, but as they each slowly begin to let their guards down with each other, it grows into need. There’s sweetness, there’s emotion, and there’s awesome smut. So basically, it hits on all fronts.
I have to say that I really appreciate the way that Jonesn writes Bella, who isn’t always likeable, and isn’t trying to be. Some of the most emotional chapters have Bella’s mind on things that may seem trivial, while perfectly showing the reader what is really going on with her beneath the surface. Edward is also warding others away with his gruff exterior, but the vulnerability and care that he shows only to Bella really pulls you in.
For me, this is one of the stories that you read and reread over again. Definitely a favorite.
Bear Creek Road: He smelled nice, I noticed, not that I was blatantly breathing him in, even though I totally was – blatantly. All soap and sawdust from a slab of freshly cut lumber. All man. AH M Romance/Angst BxE (WIP)
The Tale of Ned and Stella…
Even if you haven’t actually watched “A Streetcar Named Desire”, it is a fair bet that you would still be familiar with the iconic scene of Marlon Brando screaming out “Hey Stella!… Stella!!”.
An Undefined Affair, by jayhawkbb, is as emotive and memorable as that scene. From the very first chapter (the prologue), you know you are in for an emotional ride. But, the beautiful thing about this story is, there is just as much lightness and laughter as there are moments where your heart aches.
The story is told mostly in BPOV, and what an exceptional Bella she is: witty, clever, loyal and loving. She is the girl you would be proud to call your best friend; she certainly makes her mark on Edward from the moment they meet.
Edward isn’t without his charms either. He’s gorgeous, driven and with bit of a dark past that haunts him (we love it when he’s a little complex!) and when he isn’t being an arrogant semi-asshole, he really is very endearing.
Ned and Stella have a love story like no other, from friends with benefits too much, much more. Every riveting chapter makes this a Fan Fic Classic!
An Undefined Affair: Bella, recovering from a broken heart, meets Edward, who isolates himself emotionally. Their attraction is immediate, but can they be friends and lovers – without the love? BxE, all the regs, some drama, some funny, lemony, language AH (Complete)
Clairebamboozle has written from horror to humour, from romance to suspense, supernatural and fantasy, all in her own unique style, and so we are looking forward to her latest offering of drama and angst. From what we’ve read so far, the first chapter and a sneak peek, it’s building to be another must read from a lovely storyteller.
She tells us Edward and Ella—so named as she decides to rebrand herself as she grows older, will get together, but it’s no quick romance fix and it won’t be light fluff. According to Clairebamboozle, the storyline deals with the consequences of making poor choices and the fall out which affects everyone for years to come. She has hinted at some twists and turns that are sure to keep you entertained as the story unfolds. We could tell you…but we won’t be spoilsports. We will give you a snippet of Chapter 2, though…
I flicked on the kitchen light. It buzzed for a moment while it struggled to reach full strength and I noticed the small scrap of paper propped against the salt shaker.
It was my father’s handwriting.
Bella, had to deal with an emergency call. Someone’s hurt. I’ll be back ASAP.
My knuckles were white as I read and reread the note. My stomach churned and it felt like I was going to puke. This was it…the reason behind the bad feelings. It was an omen. Every fiber in my body was screaming that Edward was the person who was hurt. My knees wobbled and I stumbled onto a chair to save myself falling to the floor. It was fear for Edward’s safety wrapped up in shock at my strange premonition. It must have been that damned bike. He’d probably been out somewhere, driving too fast, and had an accident.
Ride and Prejudice: Life is a series of choices and making the wrong call can change someones life forever, just ask Edward Cullen. AH M Drama/Angst ExB (WIP)
