Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow…

Well hello there!

A New Year brings changes for us all. New challenges, sadly, include fond farewells. Please indulge us for a moment…

When the collective known as The FicSisters was formed, we were all fic-lovers and (mostly 😉 ) experienced reviewers. We decided to offer what we liked as readers, filling a gap, as we saw it then. Knowing the site wouldn’t run forever, but even so, we chose not to set a time limit. Oh, the planning! They were giddy days.

Some chose to be purely back-room Sisters, others cheerleaders providing invaluable moral support, and a few of us were reviewers; focussing on chatting to the wider fandom to welcome guests into our fic-home. (With a quick shout-out to Mr FS, who built, helped maintain and guide in all things technical and legal! Thank you.) It was all for one, and one for all! No matter our contribution, we all put our hearts and souls into it. Although spread across continents we were united by Twific – admittedly, mostly Edward! *winks*

We wanted the stories, authors, betas, pre-readers, banner makers and fic-fans to be the stars of our site. We intended to be faceless and nameless, giving the glory to the talent in the fandom– an all inclusive fic-utopia, if you will, maybe we achieved that.

Boy, were we blown away with the kindness shown to us, and the overwhelming support the site received. We all recall the panic and hysteria of the occasions the site crashed through the unexpectedly high number of visitors! Again, we doff our caps to Mr FS for the long-term solution.  Seriously, thank you all. We never expected the numbers to keep rising.

In December 2014, the reviewers amongst our crew all agreed to One More Year… at which point we would not only close the door to The International House of FanFic, but lock it shut. That time has now come.

Lives change, people move on, families grow…a couple of us will remain firmly in the fandom, some on the periphery, many of us will still read fic. But The FicSisters, i.e. the collective that started out, simply no longer exists…and therefore it’s appropriate for the site to stand as it is; belonging to the readers, authors et al. It was never supposed to be about us, after all.

And so, with fond memories and many, many thanks for your support, we’re giving out FicSister hugs and kissing you all farewell… for one last time, enjoy!

It’s poignant that we review Olivia Evans’ latest book Brooklyn & Beale on our last post. We adore Livie and everything she writes, but we have to admit, Brooklyn & Beale is pretty special.

It is a different experience, reading a story where you know the author – her passions, her personality…and both of these shine through in Livie’s latest work. There is a whole lotta soul in this book – put there by an amazing author (and a gorgeous person).

We fell in love almost immediately with our heroine, Chloe. She’s talented, driven, funny and caring. Breaking out of the mould that her mother was trying to craft for her is hard, but she is doing it – and when she gets a call from her friend at recording studio, she doesn’t realize at the time just how much her world is about to change…

Reid Ryder is a full on rock star, and like most rock stars, he has a story to tell that isn’t all sunshine and roses. He’s lost his ability to write songs and is about to launch on a year long World Tour without the support of his girlfriend, Jess, who has to stay behind.

After their initial awkward first meeting, Reid and Chloe strike up a friendship that over time grows and becomes something it shouldn’t really be for either of them. After all, Reid is in a committed relationship – but you know what they say, the heart wants what it wants… Chloe knows falling for Reid will only break her heart. What happens when two soulmates meet, but one soul is already promised to someone else??

There are many things that Livie excels at, but at the top of the list is breaking our hearts and we still love her – that’s how special she is *winks*

The time we spent reading Brooklyn & Beale over the Christmas/New Year break was divine, and we can’t recommend the story enough. Love. Laughter. Loss. Soul. Passion. Heartbreak. More Love. It’s all here…

We love you, Liv!!

We want to just take a moment to share with you all the stories that have changed our lives.  Some of the best things we have ever read have been our beloved FanFics and here is just a selection of the ones that have changed us forever and a quick reason why we loved them so… in no particular order…

do you know who made this?
do you know who made this?

This is the story we wish we could go back and read all over again without knowing anything about it.  It’s sad, poignant and so, so clever.  This is what real love is – and it is beautiful.

Summary: Edward finds himself back in the little beach town of his childhood when he inherits the local bar from his uncle. The elusive, pretty girl next door has killer legs, a sketchbook and secrets that are slowly eating her alive. Rated M ~ Angst/Romance ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

We just have to list EP.  Although it is now published as Sempre, this FanFic will always hold dear in our hearts – the original and best mafiaward.  Between us, we have read this story many. many times and you can bet we will read it again!  An epic tale of star-crossed lovers – fate always meant for these two to be together. Gives us goosebumps just thinking about it.

Summary:  The tale of a Principe Della Mafia and his Bella Ragazza, two souls connected in a world full of chaos. Quella destinata per te, nessuno la prenderà. True Love Waits. Sempre.

Now published as Sempre by JM Darhower.

What started out for many of us as an addictive, sweet, funny and fabulous story blossomed into PUCKED (AKA The Misapprehension of Violet Hall Regarding the Inferior Intellect of Hockey Players)… for the wider world. It’s hard to read the title without grinning, because having re-read it a gazillion times we know what a treat it is. Helena Hunting-or HunterHunting as she was when we first fell in love with her and her writing-has a gift that has to be shared. We’ll treasure her words forever.

Summary: With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn’t interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. When Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match.

While we could easily, and perhaps predictably, name Deviant as our fave planetblue fic, it would be overlooking the beautiful gem that is Barefoot in Texas. It’s the fic that led us firmly down the path of love for a truly lovely and talented author. So, yeah…Barefoot in Texas is more than just a great read.

Summary: I watch her jumping, prancing, her hands empty but taking pictures. Her feet bare on the hot Texas earth. Everything in my life that was planned to a T just whirled away in a ruffled skirt. Rated: M ~ Romance ~ Edward/Bella ~ Complete

Do you know who made this?

We can’t talk about life changing fics without including the truly beautiful Branching Inward. LifeInTheSnow painted such vivid imagery while weaving a magical story. It’s indelibly printed on my heart.

Summary: He’s a brilliant, sensual, tactile artist with a huge personality and love for life…at least, he used to be. She’s a shrewd historian, content to observe from a distance…until now. At Newcoven College in Clearwater, OH, no secret is safe. Rated: M ~ Romance & Drama ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete FanFicButtonPlain

Honestly, it is like choosing between your children when you talk about picking a PattyRose favourite. The one thing we adore about Patty’s stories is that her characters share that connection that we FicSisters look for – you know – the “I’ll love you forever and forever” one. The one we are chose (after some argy-bargy) is The Cullen Legacy. We all LOVE it. We all were there from chapter one and we had many the conversation about each update as it arrived. However, you can’t go wrong with any PattyRose story. Our other personal favourites include, If We Ever Meet Again, Indecent Proposal, This is Who I Am, Spin and Sway…gosh, we love them all. And Patty herself. We *really* love her.

Summary: Legacy – A gift; sometimes unknowingly bestowed. Bella met Edward in a London pub, never imagining where each would be 7 years later: he a Congressman fueled by ever-growing political ambition, she the woman with an explosive secret that can end all his dreams. But Bella might soon find that revenge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and that Edward may harbor his own dark secrets. Rated M ~ Romance/Hurt/Comfort ~Bella/Edward ~ CompleteFanFicButtonPlain

Stolen Secrets and Shattered Dreams is one of those stories that you never want to end. With a completely unique plot line, but still utilizing elements of our beloved canon, FoxxyJ takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride. It’s a masterpiece.

Summary: A NYC barman views his mind reading as an isolating cancer, until he meets a lonely 28yr old trying to escape her sad reality. His life is full of harsh lessons. Hers an uphill battle, so she never complains when a beautiful boy pushes her away time and time again. Rated M ~ Hurt/Comfort/Drama ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

One FicSister who will remain nameless is embarrassed to admit how many times she has read First & Ten.  For her, it is her happy place. Wonderful writing, loveable characters (really loveable if you are taking about Quarterbackward *sigh*). Throw in the funniest Emmett ever, crazy parents and some great football, and you have a brilliant story – we bow down to the brilliant Nolebucgrl for creating it for us!

Summary: Bella Swan is an aspiring sports writer and her first big assignment is to interview the league’s biggest, not to mention hottest, quarterback. Will Edward Cullen school her in the rules of the game or will she teach him a thing or two? Rated M ~ Romance/Humor ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

There is so much to love about BellaScotia‘s Secrets and Lies.  The title is only three words, but those three words tell you so much – both Bella and Edward have secrets and have told lies, but when Bella has to come back to her hometown for her father, their painful past is dredged back up.  The thing to love most about these characters is that, yes, they are flawed, but they own their flaws and both Bella and Edward know that they have a chance for redemption and happiness.  It is one of the most fulfilling stories we have read, and we can’t recommend it enough.

Summary: Bella once told a lie. A lie that cost her everything she ever wanted. 10 years later she returns to her hometown to an ailing father, an angry best friend, and the man from whom she has kept a secret that threatens to unravel her existence. Rated M ~ Hurt/Comfort/Romance ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

Do you know who made this?
Do you know who made this?

We can’t have a list like this and not have an ItzMegan73 story.  All her stories are brilliant and it was damn near impossible to choose just one, but we have gone with The Cannabean Betrothal as in one of our earlier posts the wonderful AwesomeSauce76 aka Amanda Black reviewed this story for us and she says it perfectly…

Have I mentioned how much I love ItzMegan73? Well, I do. She is one of my all-time go to authors and choosing only one fic of hers to rec is like choosing which of my dogs I love the most. They all hold a special place in my heart for different reasons. Amazingly, her fics are still posted online and even more amazing is the fact that they are just as wonderful to read today as the first time I found them years ago. Each one is completely different from the other in subject and structure, yet they all just feel like ItzMegan73. That is what I crave from a really good author: the way they make you feel.

That is why I finally settled on The Cannabean Betrothal. It has always been the one that makes me feel the most. I gave the fic another quick reread since it had been a while and I was a little fuzzy on some of the finer details, and just like stepping into those perfectly broken-into shoes, it just fit. Immediately I was sucked back into this incredible world that she created from thin air. The first thing I noticed before I was halfway through chapter one was that it was still there: the feeling.”

You can read Amanda’s full review here.

Summary: Edward has immersed himself in the Cannabean way to ward off the hurt of a life-changing experience; but an unexpected betrothal teaches him how little he knows about life.  Rated: M ~ Drama/Romance ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

Ruth Clampett is one of our favourite ladies here at The International House of FanFic.  She is sweet, funny and one hell of a writer.  When we heard that our beloved Animate Me was to be published, we were over the moon for her.  This story has a special place in all our hearts and minds. If you haven’t read this story *gasp* you need to go and fall in love with the story just like we did!

There is a reason that The Blessing and the Curse is the most favourited story on fan  Once read, never forgotten. It is a tried and true “classic” and this Edward is one of the most mesmerising (and if we are honest, a little scary) in FanFic. Hm, time for a re-read *pulls on big girl pants*…

Summary: By pretending she is falling for Edward, Bella is fulfilling Esme’s dying wish. But sexy, possessive Edward can read her mind. Will she ever get into his? Can Bella forget the pain of her teenage years, and can she resist his relentless seduction? Rated M ~ Angst/Romance ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

It’s easy to recall every detail of this poignant story, partly because A Compendium of Thoughts is real, but also because of the way it’s told; how it unfolds. ItIsRaining wrote with such hope and love it still warms the heart, years after it first posted. Anyone who has read it will tell you (this isn’t a spoiler!) the epilogue is both hugely moving and life affirming.

Summary: After Edward is struck with a serious illness, Bella offers to give him a ride to school every day. His musings on life are priceless and unique. Based in its entirety on a true story. Rated: M ~ Edward/Bella ~ Complete

Alaska is a unique story that simply transports the reader. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the beautiful landscape and wildlife; the perfect setting for Anton M‘s adorable Edward and Bella. Alaska itself is a strong silent presence – much like Edward- yet full of personality. Anton M draws strong yet vulnerable characters that are real, interesting and irresistible, much like the backdrop for their story – majestic and yet in need of protection all at once.

Summary: For two years, Bella’s had a cotton candy romance going on with her taciturn best friend. In her head. So after catching bits and pieces of Edward’s unusual upbringing, Bella pays a visit to Alaska. Rated: M ~ Romance/Adventure ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

Not only is Georgina Guthrie a pure delight, but she’s also super-talented. She gave us Sailor and Poppet, and their gorgeous romance. A twisting, turning and intriguing story that still pulls us back to read it all over again…

Summary: Aubrey Price is in the final months of her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. Bright, witty, and fiercely independent, Aubrey works part-time for the college dean and has her sights set on graduating with distinction. When she meets Dean Grant’s son, Daniel, the TA in her senior Shakespearean studies course, a shared love of the Bard’s works and an instant mutual attraction draw Aubrey and Daniel together. Unfortunately, a strict anti-fraternizing policy–made more perilous by a black mark on Daniel’s record–keeps them apart. Against this academic backdrop, Aubrey and Daniel navigate their way through a steamy courtship, their forbidden romance aided, abetted, and sometimes thwarted by a colorful cast of friends, family, and classmates.

Drotuno may think she wrote a fan fiction with the Gravity Series. She didn’t. She wrote a blockbuster-with heart. This is blood, guts, passion, love, loyalty and drama. It may be a rollercoaster of an adventure but it’s a deep and beautiful love story. We’d happily re-read any of drotuno’s stories, she never disappoints.

Summary: The definition of a mercenary is a soldier for hire. His crew are trained fighting machines. Hers are smart PIs. What happens when they need each other to survive? Canon couples. AH/AU. Rated M for lots of reasons, including violence and lemons. Rated: M ~ Hurt/Comfort/Romance ~ Bella/Edward ~ Complete

Back in June 2015, we invited thimbles to join us to talk about her new fic, The Monster. We didn’t know then that it was set to become a new classic. It’s a must-read story.

Yes, it has heartbreaking moments, but it’s written with intelligence, and beautiful sensitivity. If you’ve met a teenager, been a teenager or are a teenager, read it. The insights are precious life lessons and worth every tear.

You should note, it’s also filled with humour, love and hope. Read what Shell told us about her inspiration…(here) then put it the top of your reading list. Immediately.

Thank you, ladies. Thank you for your time and effort and sharing. This fandom changed many people’s lives and you have been a part of that. It sucks that things have to change but I wish everyone luck in whatever the future brings!

  2. Cassie says

I worry when one day there are no new stories from the fandom and I must go find a good book to read. These stories have been such a huge impact on our lives in general with the fandom . We will miss you.

  3. Cecilia says

Those are very sad news! So many stories I read because of this site. I’m going to miss it! Best of luck for all of you!!!!

  4. Izzy says

Thank you so much for all you have done for us. I started late reading FF and a friend has told me about your site. I was over the moon when I got on . You all will be missed. Take care , good luck and hopefully, we will meet again. Chao.

Hi Izzy – There are so many wonderful stories out there waiting to be discovered :) We have been reading FF now for 7-8 years and we still have so much to read as well! Thank you so much for your lovely message.

  5. Donna (dpennell007 on fanfiction) says

Thank you ladies! Most of the above stories are already on my favorite list, but I’ve read – and enjoyed – several of your previous suggestions. It’s always a thrill to fall in love with a new (to me) story. Right now I’m about 3/4 through Diary of an Ugly Girl By: Anton M . Excellent work.

    • says

We are so humbled by your message – thanks so much :) As you can see – you have changed our lives with your brilliant storytelling. We look forward to seeing (and reading) what you have in store for us next *big hugs from all the FicSisters*

      • says

You are very welcome, Lisa – it has been our pleasure – we have had such fun over the last two years. Yes, we will definitely leave the site up and running – we know lots of people use it for a reference and we will never take that away, FS xox

  6. says

I can’t tell you how sad it made me to read your latest – and last – post. There have been some good Twilight fanfic rec sites but, following the demise of RoAR as a blog, I have to say that none really came up to scratch until the FicSisters introduced us to the International House of Fan Fiction. I think I have found more high-quality stories through this brilliant site than any since the loss of JAG’s Sinday. But all good things must, inevitably, come to an end, and, having done this on a smaller scale with the long redundant TwiFic Picks, I know all too well what a heavy commitment it can be, and we must thus be grateful you kept it going for as long as you did. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful recommendations, as well as the fantastic support you gave this tentative and humble writer, and my sincerest best wishes to you all for the future.

It only remains for me to offer up my abiding first choice of TwiFics, the one that, quite literally, changed my life for the better. I’m afraid it’s a bit predictable but is, nevertheless, important in so many ways. It was, if you like, a gateway drug and I’m still happily addicted. It’s the amazing, incomparable Wide Awake, which can still be read in its entire, unexpurgated form on AngstGoddess003’s Life Journal blog. Long before such great services as FLAG and Fanfiction Downloader, this was the first story I painstakingly copied and pasted from LJ into Word, reformatted and edited for typos, just so I could ensure that I would always have a decent copy to keep. I have many favourite stories, but this one will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Farewell, ladies – but not goodbye, because I know we will meet again, either in real or cyber life. You are all, without exception, the absolute bee’s bollocks. <3

    • says

Oh Liz….tears are welling…thank you so much for your lovely words. We feel very blessed to have done what we have done for the last two years and it has been a sheer joy, particularly when we have been able to spotlight wonderful authors such as yourself :)

We will definitely include Wide Awake on our Ones that Changed Our Lives list – you are completely right – it was definitely a life changer. Thanks again xoxox

PS: We will never forget all the wonderful recs you sent our way when the bloody fabulous RAoR Sinday was running. Never once did you steer us wrong *mwah*!

  7. Meredith Cullen says

Thank you everyone for all of the amazing work you’ve done over the years. The recommendations and reviews and interviews have made quite an impact on me. <3

  8. Jo says

I’m so saddened to see you go. I’ve followed your site for years and have always found it to be a great place to find something to read. I’m so, so happy you were so gracious with your time and thoughts and thank you for years of recs! Just another nail in the Twific coffin I’m afraid. We all know the day is coming when Twilight will be a thing of the past. I will be truly sorry to see that day come. Thanks again for all your hard work!

    • says

Hey Jo, we may be stepping back, but we’re still constantly amazed by the new fics -and new authors- in the fandom! We’ll still be reading…long may Twific continue. xo

  9. debbieinsflorida says

I want to start by thanking you–each and every one of you–who has made this site such a joy to frequent. I still get a thrill every time I see your site name in my inbox–though today’s caused more of a sad sigh when I saw the title. I have enjoyed each and every post and reveled in the fact that there were others out there who love Twi-fic as much as I do. I’ve read your reviews with avid interest and like so many others, read many a story based on your wonderful suggestions.
I understand why it all must end, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m extremely sad about it. I have a tear in my eye as I type this. Yours has been one of the very best in a long line of rec sites and I’ll miss it terribly.
Thank you so much spreading the word of the wonderful writers and stories that are–and hopefully will continue to be–a part of this fandom. Yes, it’s not as big as it used to be, but it’s still going strong. There is a huge amount of talent and I plan to be here for as long as there are new stories being written!
Good luck to all of you! You’ll be missed!

Awww, gee whiz, now I really am crying, reading all the wonderful comments. It’s been a place we’ve loved to come and hang out with others who love Twific as much as we do. I’m sure I’ll come back and look around periodically, just to remember the wonderful work you all did. Gonna miss it! Good luck to all of you!

Ladies, I cannot begin to tell you how much I looked forward to seeing your email pop up in my mailbox. Not only have I found an amazing number of new stories to read, but also was reminded of older stories that I knew I would go back and read again. I love your reviews of not only the fanfic stories but also the new books. I will miss your input immensely. So, that being said, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all you have done to make this wonderful fandom even better.

I am so sad I won’t be reading any more of your words. I know nothing lasts forever but that doesn’t mean I have to like it! This will leave a huge gap in guiding me in what stories I should read. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve picked up a story from this site that I’ve really enjoyed. Y’all really brought so much pleasure to all of us. I hope you will flourish in your other endeavors. You will be missed. :`C

Please add “This Is Not My Life” by isakasses to the Reading Library. I adore that story and it’s still up!

  27. Roxiegirl says

Thank you to everyone that contributed and spent so much time on this site! I read it every week without fail and got some great recs. The story that changed my life is Wide Awake, as it was the first fanfic I ever read back in 2009 and I’m still going strong. Cheers and best wishes to you all!!

    • says

Hey there Roxiegirl, it feels like we’ve been through the fandom years together… so glad you’ve been with us for the ride. Thank you for your continuous support and friendship xoxo

P.S. Wide Awake is a must read, for sure! 😉

  28. Jan Grose Martindale says

    Thank you ALL!
“The Boy In The Red Sweater” did it for me, such a poignant coming-of-age story.
I’m so sorry I cannot remember the author’s full penname, but it started with – starry – I know that.
It was taken down as she intended to publish, I don’t know if it happened.
Right now, the WIP. most affecting me is another coming-of-age story: “The Monster” by thimbles, dealing with teenaged depressing & suicide.
    It is BRILLIANT.
Thank you again, you have my sincere respect & gratitude.
    jansails on FFN

    • says

Gosh! Yes! Jan, The Boy in the Red Sweater <3 great choice. Thank you.

…and you’ll see we’ve popped The Monster into the ^ post, as it completed. 😉 It’s a personal favourite, and will definitely become a fandom classic. xoxo

  29. Lynda (anakinsmom) says

Thank you just doesn’t seem to be enough. I have learned so much from your site and your recommendations. I will confess to seeing your emails and telling myself not to open it because my tbr list is already way too long but of course I succumb and get lost again in all the wonderful fics out there. Your reviews always helped me decide if a story was too angsty or depressing for me to tackle and for that I am extremely grateful. I’m happy to say that I have read and enjoyed almost all of your ‘final’ life changing recs and there were life changing for me as well. And the two I haven’t read have been added to my list. Thank you too for leaving the site up so we can all revisit if out tbr lists ever run dry.
Good luck in all your future endeavors and thanks again for making the past years so enjoyable for all of us!

    • says

Thank you, Lynda. We’re very grateful for your kind comments.
Time to confess that the life changing list is now being re-read! So many treasures and happy memories.
Please do enjoy the library, and if you have a favourite, we’d be happy to add it in. <3

  30. Jennifer says

    Sweet ladies,

I’m so sorry to see you go. For years, this has been a place of kindness and cheerleading like no other.

You promoted stories without bias, accepted all genres & pairings, and were always so welcoming to both new and seasoned authors.

Please know that your hard work did not go unnoticed, and you are wished nothing but happiness, health, and love in your new-found free time.

Speaking for myself, I truly appreciate that you always promoted my stories at their beginning and at their end.

You are a class act. Be blessed.

    Xoxoxo, Jen/Yummy

    • says

      *sobbing* thank you, Yummy!

Your kind words are appreciated more than we can convey.

We will continue to be addicted to reading Twific, including your amazing stories. Thank you for everything you give. <3

  31. Donna239 says

I am sad to see you go, but I totally understand that lives change and so do priorities. I was involved with TwiFic Reviews which was the first Twilight fan fiction site that I came across until the administrator felt that she could not maintain it any longer. I have enjoyed your recommendations and reviews. Good luck!

  32. Maggie Chambers says

If I were to write a list of the fics that have changed my life, it would be just as long, if not longer than this one. The fandom as a whole, and selfless, positive groups like the Fic Sisters, have made a greater impact than any individual story or writer. An immeasurable impact. The jokes, the encouragement, the artistry, the friendships, the talent… oh, my gosh, the TALENT! Thank you for everything you have done to bring fantastic stories to the readers and vice versa. You will be missed.

    • says

*wipes tears away* you’ve said everything, Maggie. So eloquent, as always. We have a fabulous fandom and we’ve been thrilled to be a small part of that.
We’re going to miss sharing, but will enjoy losing ourselves in the amazing stories still being told.
      Thank you. So much <3

  33. Debbie says

I am very sadden to see you closing your site. I understand the reasons. I just wanted to Thank You for bringing such great stories into my life. I can not tell you how FF helped me through a very difficult time in my life. Its gave me a “out” of my RL that I can not describe. I do not remember how I found you, but I thank God that I did.

You and your stories have blessed me . Help make my day’s better.

So thank you ladies! You are totally awesome!!

You and your site will be greatly missed!

    • says

Your words are humbling, Debbie. Thank you so much for your kindness.

Thanks again for the support and love you’ve shown all of us writers and readers! We will miss you!

  35. Elaine says

I will be lost without your site. I’m not much of a comment person on blogs but I used your site for reference before fic diving. You, each and every one of you, have been a god send to our fandom. Your last post could be used as a “Must Read Fanfictions” for the newbies to our fandom. I plan to use the list and reread them and reminisce. The stories and the writers you mention are the best of the best.

I hope each of you realize the many gifts you’ve given to your followers. May you find happiness and love in anything or however you choose to continue with your lives.

I wish you only the best and send heartfelt hugs for you. Thanks again for all you have done.

    • says

Oh my. Elaine, your words are so moving. We’re incredibly touched by your kindness. Thank you.

We will, of course, leave the site up. Hopefully it’ll be useful as a reference.
…and we are also re-reading and reminiscing. This fandom has blessed us with so many absolute gems. <3

  36. Nunzia Castellane says

Ditto to the above comments. This is a great loss. Your class act will be missed! So glad you are leaving the site active so I can peruse for fics. Also, kudos to Mr. FS. This is a very user-friendly site and easy on the eyes.

    • says

Bless you, dear Nunzia. We adore you and always will. Your support has always been appreciated. You’re a true friend.

Aus FicSister will pass on your comments to Mr FS! He’s been a trouper and deserves a kiss 😉 xoxoxo

  37. Kat says

I saw the notice on twitter and it was like someone punched me in the heart! It’s hard to leave an upbeat comment when your heart is breaking. *sobs*

I know it’s hard work to bring a site like this together and keep it going and I thank you all so much. Thank you for all your wonderful reviews and spotlights and all the lovely fics and authors you have brought to our attention! I am still an avid reader and I have to admit I thinking, ” what will I do now?”

One that changed my life was “The Fallout” by OCDindeed, post-apocalyptic awesomeness that is beyond words. What an epic nail-biting story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

You all will be dearly missed. Best wishes in your next endeavors!

(If anyone is desperate for recommendations, I have a little group on CafeMom where I’ve done recs and reviews since 2009, 7-800 fics archived completed and WIPs. Nothing of this caliber and it’s just me when I have time, but there’s some die hard members and even a couple of former amazing authors! Anyone is welcome! – Kat’s Fic Pics.)

    • says

      Thank you Kat!
Although we won’t be posting, the fandom is still strong! It’s reassuring to us, that’s for sure.

Great choice, by the way, we’ll make sure it’s included in the library. Thank you xoxo

  38. m81170 says

Just saw this today. I wanted to commend you on running a wonderful website and moving on when the time was right. It’s always hard to say goodbye when you build a community around a fandom website. It’s a lot of work and there are always other adventures to tackle. You all did an amazing job. Congrats on everything and thank you for all time and work you volunteered!

    • says

Wow. Thank you m81170. Yes, it’s been fun, but like you say, times change and it’s right to move on.
But we can’t leave the fandom or fics behind! Some things don’t change 😉
We really appreciate your kind words <3

“That which touches our very soul makes our heart sing.” The FicSisters introduced me to so many stories that have had that effect on me. I don’t seem to be able to control the tears for they seem to have a mind of their own however the smile in my heart is bursting with joy and memories of all the stories I have found within your pages. May your futures be filled with promise and your dreams come true. Thank You! <3

Thanks for everything, for leaving the site up especially, and for the fun! I’ll always love all of you! Be safe! Oh, and my first fanfic, one I just finished re-reading for the billionth time last night, is Stranger Than Fiction by MasenVixen. The perfect beginning for an addiction I see no end to…forever!

    • says

Yes! Our addiction lives on too, Robyn.
Your sweet words are a balm to our souls. Thank you.

We will make sure your choice is included…another for the re-read list! …and so it continues 😉 xoxo

  41. musetteblanchard says

I have tears in my eyes. For years I’ve come to adore your site and all the recs. Reading Twi fanfic helped me through a hard time in my life and having RAoR and then you *shakes head* made it all better.
I can understand you have to go but sincerely? My heart is breaking.
Thank you girls (and the mister) for all you have done for us, avid readers.
God bless you all. Farewell my dears!

    • says

Oh musetteblanchard… We feel it too. We sat alongside you on RAoR, and felt the pain when JAG closed. We will always be addicted to fic, some things are too difficult to walk away from. It’s a sad day, but this phase has naturally come to a close. We’ll be here, quietly in a corner of the fandom, reading. Much love to you. Forever <3

      *wipes tears*

  45. jlynne says

I can’t express what the original books, movies and now the fanfics have given me through the years. In 2008, I started reading a book after a surgery I had went vastly wrong and changed my life forever. I could no longer work, so I turned to my next great love, books. I read it because my teen brought it into my home and I can’t resist the call of a book, the feel of paper, the smell of the binding… It helped me forget I was in pain and stayed in pain. Then I read more. I watched the movies. A few years later, I found the world of fanfiction, and the same encompassing balm that the books and movies gave me, the unique stories written by people not unlike myself began helping pass the time and numbing my physical pain. Of course, Bella will always be KS and Edward will always be RP for me, because they are the faces behind the stories that helped begin my process of dealing with my “new life”, and the same goes with most all the other characters. Even though I missed the call of the paper books, I found the internet to be bursting with goodies!! I go no where without my ipad or kindle and fanfics loaded to read. Your reviews of stories have helped point me to the cream of the crop…and that will be missed, but I respectfully understand your need to move up and onward. We navy folks have a saying, ‘fairwell and following seas’. Thank you for leaving the site up as it is, I’m sure I will refer back to it many times to help recall my favorites.

    • says

Thank you for your beautiful thoughts and sharing your fandom story with us, jlynne. It actually holds many echoes of my story… the fandom, authors and fics will always hold a piece of our hearts.

Thank you for being champions of the novice fic writers. You understood why we do it and what it takes for us to get a story out there. You ladies are an asset to this fandom and I hope you’ll all continue to be around in one form or another for a very long time.

Good luck and much love to you all!

I wish you all a wonderful & successful future in every dream you pursue .
Thank you so so much for everything !
    Love .

  52. Lori - (2loveybunnies) says

I must admit that while I knew things couldn’t last forever, I am truly saddened that this is your last post. I hate change, with the fire of a thousand suns! Most of us have been around for many years and watched as the fandom grew from fans of Stephenie Meyer’s original Twilight novels into the incredible phenomenon that became fan fiction. We watched as the fandom exploded, and sometimes imploded. There were great causes to support and lots of money raised for charities through fanfiction. Twific also inspired hundreds (maybe thousands) of aspiring authors to try their hand at writing original fiction and many have become successful in their own right. Over the years we’ve developed friendships based on a common interest. We’ve watched as friends have moved on, as the books and films debuted and then faded away. Through it all there have been so many wonderful stories, writers, reviewers and great people who have touched us all. Thanks for giving us a forum to read about fics, to find great stories, and to meet the talented writers behind them. The archive is invaluable and I’m so thankful that you’re leaving it up, because a good story will always be a good story. I, for one, will continue to go back and reread my favorites and seek out stories I may have missed. Twific is my comfort zone, a warm blanket that I come back to again and again, regardless of what else I may be reading. Thanks for all the “recs,” reviews and especially all the effort that went into this site over the years. Best of luck to all who worked on this site. Your input will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

    • says

Oh Lori, what a beautiful message. Thank you. We are very proud of our Fandom and loved what we have done. It is a very special place.

Wishing you the best, FS xoxox

      • Lori - (2loveybunnies) says

p.s. I tried so hard to think of one great story to add to this list, but there are so many that touched me it’s hard to name one specifically. I do have to say that when I first searched out fanfiction in 2009 after feeling unsatisfied with the novels, the first stories I went to were canon vamp fics that continued on from SM’s original honeymoon scene. Many of us were looking for more (and that’s when I first learned what “lemon” meant!). Of course, the pinnacle of those was the wonderful trilogy created by LolaShoes, beginning with “Let Your Light Shine.” This story, along with previously mentioned “Wide Awake,” hooked me into Twific for life. Reading a work in progress and being able to comment on each chapter was something new and different and I loved it. I had never read fanfiction before, but these two stories – one canon, one AH, showed me what was possible and that there was so much raw talent out there.

        • says

You’re taking us down memory lane, which is beautiful…we remember the search too! Gosh, the early days, so precious and still feel like moments ago. How time flies… 😉 it’s been fun though, right?!

Let Your Light Shine will definitely be added! Thank you xxx

  53. Maria Boehme says

Wow! I can’t believed this has come to an end. There are so many stories out there that it is impossible to know they exist, but with this site, you guys gave us some really great recommendations. If I hadn’t already the ones you recommended, I made sure that I did. The ones I haven’t gotten to yet, are in my favorites waiting for me. I thank you for all the hard work that I’m sure it took to do all this and will miss this site so much. You never steered use wrong when it came to which fic to read.
Thanks again! You will be missed! Maria

    • says

We really appreciate your kind words, Maria. Thanks so much. This fandom is lucky because it’s blessed with strong, active and talented authors – they’re sure to be here for a long time.

Hopefully you’ll find more treasures in the library, we’re going to miss sharing our favourites too. xoxo

Just wanna say how amazing it is that you took the time to reply to each and every one of the many, many wonderful comments! I thoroughly enjoyed reading them, though they made me cry!
You gals are amazing (and I’m talking about the Fic Sisters as well as all of the commenters)! *typing through my tears*

    • Lori - (2loveybunnies) says

OMG, yes debbieinsflorida, I agree with what you said too – taking the time to respond to each comment just goes to show what a great place this is and what a fantastic group the FicSisters are to have put this all together in the first place.

      *wipes tears away…again* thank you!

Although we don’t ‘know’ you all, it’s all of you that have made this special, so we wanted to thank everyone personally. ❤️

*Sigh* For two days I have read and reread this page. I’m stunned and so sad to see you go. I learned about your site not too long ago and have spent many happy hours reading your enthusiastic, sweet and funny reviews. You opened my eyes to numerous fantastic writers, both well known and many newbies. For the few stories I’ve had a chance to read, you have been spot on to add them to your collection. I can’t tell you how many I’ve saved for future reading and based on your recommendations alone, I’m sure I will love them as much as you.
I truly hope you keep this site up so I can continue my perusing and find more hidden gems.
I wish all of you well in your future endeavours, be it with family, friends and work. You ladies created a beautiful site that I will truly miss. As you mentioned, ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow.’
Take care of you and yours, Carrie

All things must come to an end and it’s very sad when it does but I realize sometimes it’s necessary. I’d like to thank you wonderful ladies for doing an amazing job at keeping this website up and for occasionally being the highlight of my day. While it may not be entirely realistic, I hope the twilight fan fiction community and its amazing authors live on!

One story that will have forever changed my life is ‘The Consequence Of Miracles’ by Travis Birkenstock (lol @ the username, LOVE IT). This particular fic is incredible and it left me speechless. And it never fails to make me feel intense emotions.

Once again, thank you for this website. I’m so glad to have come across you guys. Y’all are mind blowing. xo

Ooh! I can’t believe I forget ‘Birmingham’ by ThisIsReallyHappening. What an unbelievable story of discrimination, hope, love and so many other things. And, of course, you can’t forget ‘Honest Liar’ by aWhiteBlankPage.

Honestly, I could keep going but we’d be here for hours. 😀 What can I say, people are talented writers.

Absolutely! Hours…days… actually years! Lol. It’s impossible to stop, great Twific really is addictive. Keep reading, and enjoying.

Hi there Shradha! We truly believe that the Twific fandom, it’s authors and their stories will continue to thrive. It’s a strong community, and like you say, the talent here is fabulous. We really appreciate your kind words and support.

Thanks so much for your great suggestions – they really are worthy of multiple re-reads!
      Sending love xxx

I have to tell you, I am a little weepy! Thank you for this wonderful site. Seeing an update in my inbox….always made me smile. I have discovered such lovely stories here and “met” great authors that I have read and admired. I ‘d like to add a story that I reread over and over and every time I love it as much as the first time,.

Good luck to you all. And thank you again so much for making my life even happier.

    Hi ladies,

Please forgive my delayed response. While it has been quite awhile since I’ve read fanfic, that doesn’t mean that I don’t acknowledge how it’s changed my life. I wouldn’t be where I am now, without fan fiction. I love that it brought so much to my life. All of the stories you mentioned are perfect selections!

Please know how much I will miss all of you, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Bookish Temptations to say hello and share what you are reading!

    Much love xoxo
