Hi and welcome from the FicSisters! Have you ever read a righteously, wickedly, good story? Well, we have, and today we have a post full of them for you to enjoy!
Our pitch today is about a foray into the sophisticated art world where UST abounds that can only be expressed through the talented brush strokes and forensic eye of renowned painter, Edward Cullen. Join MrzEdCullen as she explains her motivation for writing these intense characters and erotically charged situations:
Stripped Desire started as a one shot I was going to donate for the Fandom4LL&S, and it grew out of hand. (I ended up donating just the prologue and the 1st chapter.)
Before I started writing it, the lovely Sarah (Yellowglue or LittleGreyAche) provided a picture as inspiration when I told her my plot bunny was about an Artistward who wanted to paint a nude portrait of Bella. I fell in love with the image and then I worked hard on the story to make it fit.
This was the first story I actually devised an outline and individual profiles for Edward and Bella before I sat down to write, except for one big scene that woke me up in the middle of the night that I had to write down. (No, it’s not up yet.) I’m pretty inside their heads right now, more than I have ever been with any of my characters before. It’s been really interesting and helpful.
I’m not usually good at writing while listening to music, but Closer by Kings of Leon has influenced me a lot for this story. I kind of want the story to read with that tone, sensual with a little bit of hurt.
As a fic writer, most of my fics are practice and a road to develop my abilities. My goal with this story was writing good characterization. I want to be able to show you their personalities, their wants and needs, their growth… using little things.
I’m really thankful to everyone who has been reading, reccing and supporting me with this story. The people on my side: my betas SunflowerFanfiction and Mari, who are awesome, and my pre-readers Gingerandgreen and LovelyBrutal, who are amazing. Thank you!
This excerpt is from chapter 6:
On the second session, Edward Cullen opens the door shirtless. Water is dripping from his hair and onto his muscled chest. He motions me in and closes the door behind us, toweling the back of his head. A small drop of water splashes my right wrist.
I can almost hear it sizzle.
The colorful ink on his right arm is on full display: a sleeping woman starts on his pectoral and her orange dress flows to his shoulder. The trail of her dress is what has been teasing me all along, peeking out of his t-shirts.
Focusing on the tattoo, I realize I know the image. It’s Flaming June by Frederic Leighton. I instantly want to know his reason for committing that specific painting on his body.
Lower down his body, black ink starts on his right hip and disappears under his jeans. It’s more than obvious he is wearing no underwear.
I feel like a gaping fish out of water, drinking in every inch of his skin.
He puts on a black t-shirt without uttering a word. The simple action of the fabric sliding across his body is erotic.
He claims I was a bit early and that he got home a bit late, as an explanation for not being ready for me.
I pretend it’s no big deal.
I think we both know I’m lying.
Stripped Desire: Logic and art, numbers and paint—two different worlds from each other. Life made them collide, but one dangerous request could lead to much more than what they bargained for. M E/B Romance
As a reader, I love a good Vampward and when it comes to good ones, there are few out there who can write one as well as Windchymes, and her fiction The Keepsake is no exception. As her beta, when she mentioned this idea to me I was all over it, actually bugging her to write it, even while she was in the midst of working on her first published book. Her thoughts turned into ideas which became words, and then The Keepsake was born.
Her characters are always well-rounded, incredibly sweet and strong, but this Edward has an added dimension to his personality—one I won’t divulge and take away from the story, but you ache for him. Because of it, we the reader, as well as Bella, get to see Edward from a different perspective. We see them fall in love all over again, but now both more mature and with some experience in life outside of the small settings of Forks. And this Bella is very strong; a loving, sweet woman now, prepared to be what Edward needs in order for them to move forward, even while she suffers, holding a secret she knows could destroy them. The whole gang is involved in the story, even a Jake who is likeable, which is a refreshing change.
One of my favourite moments in the whole story is in chapter four, when Edward tries to make Bella smile and for the first time offers her something he has never given her before. Humour. Or at least the attempt at humour.
“Okay, knock knock,” he says, surprising me again. A knock knock joke. Edward? Really?
“Um, who’s there?”
“Moooo!” he cuts in suddenly, loudly, interrupting me and despite the awfulness of the joke, I’m laughing really hard. It’s actually kinda funny. And hearing Edward Cullen tell it is even funnier.
Indeed it is.
The fic is set two years after Edward leaves Bella in the forest, and through some flashbacks we see both their stories of the time they have spent apart and how they once again, end up in the same place.
It’s a story of the past, the future, and what happens when life offers you a second chance. There is love, forgiveness and some angst, and given it is Edward, what story would be complete without it? He may have changed and matured, but he is still Edward.
Like all Windchyme’s stories, it will draw you in right away, eager for the next chapter … and the next. Now complete with only the epi left to come, it is truly a lovely read. Curl up with a blanket and a cup of tea and lose yourself in the world she has woven starring our favourite couple.
And when you’re finished, check out her original work, Over the Edge by Suzanne Carroll. A great story, with a sweet romance interwoven with many LOL moments.
The Keepsake: Some things you never forget, they just hurt too much to remember. (Complete)
Review of Over the Edge by Suzanne Carroll at Amazon.com
Given the wide spectrum that the word Romance can be used to describe a book these days, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading Over the Edge. What starts off with a woman overwhelmed by the fiasco being forced on her, becomes a heart-warming story of finding and rediscovering herself.
Zoe’s misadventures and wild attempts at becoming all she can be are, at times, both amusing and sad as she struggles to find her own feet in a world where she no longer knows where she belongs. Her inner musings are often as dubious as they are amusing. Buoyed by a supportive best friend and a new unusual relationship with her CEO, Zoe’s spirit begins to recover as she finds her lost confidence and forges ahead, reclaiming life.
And the romance. Ah, the romance. Make no mistake, there is a lovely romance intertwined perfectly into the story, but this is not a simple “they meet, they fall in love” kind of book. The layers of this story are many and varied. Suzanne Carroll has woven a tantalizing tale of two people, both lost, both searching, and yet unable to reach the person in front of them. While the story focuses more on Zoe’s development as a person, the moments between her and Angus are warm and magical, leaving you longing for more of them. The author’s descriptive style wraps you into their world, letting you see what they see and feel their emotions as they develop and grow.
When Zoe’s quest comes full circle and she realizes without a doubt who she is, what she wants, and that she must act now and think later, the reader is caught up with her race against time, pulling for her to reach out with both hands and grab the ultimate prize – real love.
Beautifully written and filled with so much humor and love, one can only hope the author plans a follow-up to this story filled with more magical moments and laughter.
Who knew a set of wind chimes could change the course of your life…
Emma Santori has a heartrending past from which she can’t escape. From the very first chapter of The Righteous and Wicked, you feel her isolation and pain, but you also see her inner strength. Her rays of light in her life are her friends and her work as a Catholic school teacher.
Her dull routine is shattered when her new neighbor arrives, not only with his noisy bulldozer, but also with his seemingly unending disdain for her wind chimes…
Eric Wilder is the man with the Stormy Eyes. He is handsome, charming (when he wants to be!) and he is hiding a dark, dark secret.
Eric and Emma’s first couple of meetings go unintroduced, but Emma soon finds out that Stormy Eyes is her new noisy neighbor and Eric discovers that the woman behind the wind chimes isn’t a deaf 80-year-old.
Emma is fascinated by Eric, drawn to him like a moth to a flame. What was once a dull existence is overtaken when she unwittingly discovers his dark secret. As they get to know each other, Eric sees Emma as the light to his darkness and he makes Emma feel alive.
There are so many emotions at play in The Righteous and Wicked – despair, loneliness, guilt, betrayal, desire, lust, and love. Faith is tested, demons are fought. It is an intense but beautiful journey, and one we are so glad April Emerson has taken us on!
If you have a weakness for an Edward in a kilt, A Scottish Tale is a story not to be missed. Set in 17th Century Scotland, Edward is the Laird of his Castle, respected by his men and his Clan. He is about to be challenged, though…
Currently just two chapters in, it has been thorough entertainment to read. For3ver Immortal has us captured!
A Scottish Tale: A Scottish laird finds himself embroiled in the life of a girl whose beauty is sung throughout the highlands, but little does he know that she is not as feeble as she looks.
The story is set in New York where Bella and her girlfriends from Forks are now living and following their dreams. Angela is assigned her first solo newspaper article, a write-up of a speed-dating event. Naturally, she rounds up her girls, Bella, Rosalie, Alice and Jessica, and drags them along to the Irish Eyes bar for support. Now, let’s be realistic here for a second, the statistics for meeting the ‘one’ at these events are probably not particularly good, but hey, this is fanfiction, and it becomes obvious pretty quickly that at least some of our girls have hit pay dirt!
The absolutely delightful, clever, and very refreshing Bella is not interested in giving her number to any of the participants, but the six-foot-plus of heaven bartender certainly rings her bell. Knowing she has six minutes to spare between prospects, he sits his very attractive ass in the chair across from her and tells her: “I have no fucking idea what I am, astrologically. I have a dirty mouth. I’m thirty-eight, and I own this bar.”
And, while Edward (you guessed it was him) served up a Bee’s Knees – a fun, strong, but sweet cocktail from the Prohibition Era – it was his sexy grin, his sensual ways, his romantic soul, and his confident aura, which left Bella shaken…and stirred! Or maybe it was his cupcake making skills and/or hot kisses. Sigh!
Not to get too carried away with the romance of it all, the author says she tries to make her stories as realistic as possible, even if the circumstances are somewhat fantastical. That sounds like we can expect some interesting developments in the relationship between small-town-girl Bella and this older, more experienced New Yorker.
All in all, this story is shaping up to be the bee’s knees!
We asked samekraemer to tell us a little of her inspiration.
I thought about what it might be like to be a fresh-faced young woman in a new city with a world of possibilities at her feet. The first chapter just sort of flowed together with the speed dating event because at the time I started plotting it out, my sister-in-law was into on-line dating, but her best friend had talked her into going to a speed dating thing at a bar in St. Louis. When she told me how horrible it was, it lit something inside me, thus, the characters were born.
Speed Dating: Bella Swan had finished law school and joined her closest friends in New York, just as they’d always planned. They each had their own pursuits, but they shared one dream…Moving to New York and living their dreams. When they agreed to accompany their friend, Angela, to an old-school, speed dating event, they were all skeptical. M Romance/Drama B/E

Have you ever wanted to run away with the circus? This fic, inspired by hot pictures from the set of Water for Elephants, may make you want to do just that.
Edward is known as Magic to the good folk of the circus. It would be logical to immediately visualise Edwardo The Magician pulling a rabbit from his top hat. Logical, but oh, so wrong! Magic has tricks of his own…talent for pulling the ladies…magic at…well, you can imagine. He is a trapeze artist – think powerful and toned body encased in tights!
Bella is a reluctant new addition to the backroom of the circus. It appears she has lived behind the scenes of her own life up to this point. She is sweet and gentle and the change in her as she gradually moves into her own spotlight is a pleasure to behold. Naturally, Bella falls under Edward’s spell quicker than you can say “Abracadabra”. But, he isn’t the only one whose spell she falls under…
His face was so sweet in slumber. His rubbery top lip vibrated as he exhaled a deep breath, making Bella giggle. She wondered if camels snored. His long dark eyelashes fluttered opened at the sound of her laughter.
The sleepy camel moved his great head and placed it in her lap. He was like a baby waking from a nap, his eyes heavy, torn between fighting the desire to open them and continue sleeping at the same time. She gently stroked between his ears and down his long neck. He moaned softly as she allowed him to slowly wake, yawning and stretching like any human.
“Winny, so much has happened. I don’t know where to begin. Gummi Bear?” She offered her open hand to him with several bears in the middle. His lips gently plucked each candy from her, the velvet tickling her palm.
Leotardward or the lovable show-stealing Winston may entice you to buy a ticket, but it’s the vivid and colourful world the talented Foxxyj commands as Ring Master, that will keep you entertained and riveted to your seat for the entire performance.
Step Right Up!
Step Right Up: Quiet Bella Swan ends up the newest member of The Volturi Bros Circus. Friendships unfold as she discovers herself. Edward Cullen has never had to keep his hands to himself, until now. Will the charming trapeze artist control his desires? EXB OOC AH M Romance/Friendship (Complete)
