Another warm welcome to all our readers…from every corner of the world! We turn you over to JiffyKate to open our post with their latest fic, The Other One…
We are so excited the FicSisters asked us to pitch our new story here on their blog! We feel honored . . . and a little nervous. It’s always a crazy feeling when you throw a new story out there for all to see, but when there’s extra attention before the story even gets off the ground, the pressure is on!
The inspiration for The Other One didn’t follow our normal pattern for story inspirations. Usually, our plot bunnies come from movies or songs, but the basic idea for this one came from a simple mental picture of a sad girl sitting in a cafe alone, staring out the window. From there, we built the plot around her. And, although, it was conceived with her in mind, we felt it was better told from someone else’s perspective, so the entire story will be told from Edward’s POV.
The characters are canon and most of the normal suspects will make an appearance. As for the setting, the story is based in New Orleans, somewhere near and dear to our hearts, and we hope to bring the spirit of the city into the story. Otis Redding and Ray LaMontagne were our muses and provided background music for several of the chapters.
Here’s a little sneak peek from Chapter 2:
Out of the shower with my teeth minty-fresh, I attempt to control the hair on my head. I swear, it doesn’t matter what direction I brush it. It’ll just stand straight up or curl in the opposite direction. The girls I used to know called it ‘sex hair’ and would love to run their fingers through it. Not anymore, though. I haven’t been with a girl in over six months, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I don’t think I’m ready for that…yet.
As usual, any time I have to look at myself in a mirror, my eyes automatically zoom in on the scar above my right eye. It looks so different than it used to. The color has faded to a light shade of peach but will still shine if caught by the light. It’s smooth, and now that my eyebrow has almost completely grown back, it’s harder to see. What’s not covered by my eyebrow travels up at an angle before curving toward my temple.
Yeah, it’s not as gruesome as it used to be, but it’s still enough to make people stare and whisper. I hate the whispers the most.
What we hope more than anything is that this story is different from our past stories and that it pulls at your heartstrings. The chapters will post every Friday! We’re looking forward to interacting and sharing this journey with y’all!
Summary: The Other One ~ Two strangers struggling from day to day. One trying to overcome the past, while the other hides behind it. Will they be able to trust one another enough to share their secrets and accept the truth, despite what they’ve been through? Romance/Angst Edward/Bella Rated:M WiP
There’s no point in denying it, back in 2008 many a girl’s secret fantasy was brought to life by the lovely Crimsonmarie, in her romantic drama, Stay. It completed in 2009 and is still a favourite FicSister reread. You can imagine our delight when this week Crimsonmarie posted some outtakes she happened across, “just gathering dust on my flash drive.” Thank you, thank you, thank you, Crimsonmarie! We felt compelled to pull this special fic from our vault, dust it off, and share it with you today. Whether you are a ‘Stay’ virgin or a reread h00r – indulge and enjoy!
Edward is a famous actor who buys a bolthole in Upstate New York’s Lake George. Bella is the girl next door…all right…to be precise, she is literally the girl across the road, but she is the girl next door in the metaphorical sense. Bella and her boyfriend Jake do the neighbourly thing and befriend the new kid in town. Nothing says welcome to the neighbourbood better than a twelve pack of Heineken – especially to this Edward!
I’d repaid her in kind a few days later by finding a bottle of red wine in the small and cramped local liquor store and marching my ass over to her place to give it to her.
She was slightly more comfortable when it was me standing on her porch, and had invited me in, her smile bright and open as she moved out of the way so that I could step in.
A man fifteen times bigger than she was was sprawled across the long blue couch in the living room I stepped in to, immediately jumping up to introduce himself as her boyfriend, Jacob Black.
They both insisted that I stay over for dinner and the thought of eating one more peanut butter sandwich as one more meal made it easy to accept their offer.
Bella barbequed out in their large backyard and we sat at a round white picnic table, getting acquainted and laughing over beer and perfectly grilled steak.
At first, the three of them are friends, providing Edward with a rare taste of normality, but that leads to Edward and Bella falling in love; eventually accepting they have fallen, and fallen fast. Don’t worry, there is no cheating involved, and tbh, by then Jake will be on your shizz list, and you won’t shed any tears for him.
Admittedly, there is the familiar Averagella falls for Famousward – she thinks she is not enough for him, while he thinks he is selfish to drag her into his world – plotline; but it’s realistic and not unnecessarily prolonged. Add in their protective friends and loving, interfering families, crazy-ass employees, some obsessed fans, paparazzi, a douche of an ex, and you have a dramatic and entertaining story. For us, the most important element is despite Edward and Bella having vastly different lifestyles and living in different states, they both recognise the rarity of true love and are willing to fight for it. They put their love first and foremost, thereby making Stay a sweet tale of old fashioned romance. Sigh!
Summary: As an actor, Edward Cullen is surrounded by people that he couldn’t really care less about. What happens when he buys a house in the middle of nowhere and meets his new neighbors? AH, AU, Romance/Drama Rated: M Bella/Edward Complete
If you fancy your Edwards sweet and domineering, both loving and very much in control, you’ll revel in this taste of hot lemon from CDunbar.
Edward comes home from work to find his wife in the mood for a little sexy teasing. It isn’t long before he turns the tables on her.
“What is my offence? Why am I being punished?” I asked with a mock pout, amused at her dominating stance.
“You left this morning without kissing me good-bye,” she said, pouting playfully in return.
I laughed. “So, for that, I have to stand here and watch you parade yourself in front of me in that slip of a thing?”
“Yep,” she said, nodding and smiling smugly.
Gauging the distance between us to be about six feet, which I could easily clear in three to four strides, I decided to let Bella feel in control for the time being. Besides, two can play at this game, I thought, my own smug smile creeping across my face.
Mmmm, what a great lesson he teaches Bella – if you tease your husband, he’ll tease you right back, in the most delicious manner. This is a couple that knows what they like, and CDunbar isn’t afraid to explore it in lemony detail. A perfect One Shot to get you in the mood for the weekend.
Today we celebrate the lovely Sara “sazzledazzled”. Sara is a purveyor of great fiction and has very fine taste in men *winks*.
You are obviously a great fan of the Twilight Series – did you read the books first or watch the movies?
I was very late to the Twilight bandwagon (2010), when it first came out and everyone was freaking out over it and then again over the film, I had eye ache from all the rolling mine where doing. We were at a friend’s one night for dinner and drinks and lo and behold she had Twilight and New Moon on her book shelf, she encouraged (nagged) me to read them, so to stop the nagging… Sorry I mean encouragement (and the threat of withholding wine) I agreed.
I devoured both books in a matter of days, bought my own copies of all 4 books, read and reread constantly. The first Twi film I saw on the big screen was Eclipse and I had been thoroughly educated in the ways of Edward (and the gorgeous Mr. P).
Which is your favourite book of the Twilight Saga? (maybe a little blurb on why it is your favourite?)
Without hesitation – it has to be New Moon; favourite book and favourite film! The book is extremely well written and the emotions of everyone just leaps off the page at you, the blank pages with just the name of the month on there, says more than thousands of descriptive words ever could. Newmoonward was so just broken and angsty I just wanted to scoop him up and hug the stuffing out of him.
How did you discover Fan Fiction?
I had heard about Fan Fiction on twitter and I popped it in to Google to see what it was all about. One of the first fics I read, I loved – so I hunted for more, found FF.net and the rest is history.
When picking what to read next, is there a particular genre or ‘Ward you go for?
I tend to gravitate towards humour fics, I am a self confessed Angst-wuss. Some times it’s author rather than genre that makes me read; if I like a story I will check out their other stuff. I’m sure because of my Angst avoidance I am missing out on some cracking fics. I also tend to prefer Vampward rather than Humanward. I do also enjoy Carlisle and Emmett centric fics too.
Do you have an all-time favourite Fan Fic Edward? If so, we wanna know why he’s made it all the way to the top of the list *winks*
Oooh this is a tough one, I think Mercward, Amishward and more recently Fenceward might just have to fight this one out. The one thing that all have in common is that they are all so incredibly sweet and sexy all rolled in to one. They all love hard *sniggers* and would do anything for their Bella.
We better not leave Bella out… Is there a Fan Fic Bella who you admire the most?
My most favourite Bella is Sherryola’s Seeing Bella – strong and dignified in the face of adversity. She is ballsy and takes no nonsense from anyone.
If you were stranded on Isle Esme (and Edward wasn’t there in his low-riding pants to distract you) which five fics would you take to keep you entertained?
1) MOTU 1&2
2) Seeing Bella – Sherryola
3) Take this Heart – BookwormBaby2580 ( BxC fic)
4) The Best I Ever Had – WhatsMyNomDePlume
5) The Other Side of the Fence – Edward’s Eternal
Crikey! Picking just 5 is hard.
Which story would you like to recommend for our readers today and tell us why you love it…
Anything written by Edward’s Eternal is my stop, drop and run to read. However, at the moment it is: Angelus Ardens – Burning Angel by Cullenboyz. I follow her on twitter and clicked the link she posted for her fic. Now, usually I keep well away from period fics and they usually don’t grab me BUT I was hooked from the first chapter. This fic is AU and Vamp with canon characters. It follows Edward from his beginnings as a Vamp to when he meets Bella. His history is not a happy one but he does the best he can with the hand he is dealt. It is such a unique plot to me and I really cannot wait to see where the author takes this next. It is a WIP, 23 chapters all ready written and regularly updated.
I don’t remember where the idea came from for The Lottery of Life. Every day I have countless ideas and I usually work on a couple in my head before I decide it’s something I want to pursue. However, Lottery of Life was one of the only times I have had a clear vision of the full story. When I began writing it, I realized that it was something that could actually affect people. I work in Los Angeles, in an industry that is fueled by riches and excess. I think that the topic of poverty and homelessness can touch every single person on this planet.
I had envisioned a Bella that was snarky, vain and sometimes a bit bitchy. I was worried about how the readers would embrace her. I believe that in any of my stories, one of the most crucial parts is to see how a character evolves. I was happy to see that the readers embraced this Bella and her journey. But I am not so different from this Bella. I may not have money at my disposal but to be honest, how many times have I seen a homeless person and just walked away. Avoided my fellow man? I think it is something that many of us are guilty of and so I wrote this story as not only bringing awareness to the readers but I hope it will hold me accountable as well
One of the best things about writing this piece was to come up with all the banter between Edward and Bella. I wanted the dialogue to be comical in hopes to keep the story interesting. I would sometimes go through dialogue in my head for weeks before even ever approaching a scene. And then when it came to the serious dialogue, approaching the climax, I would usually find myself at my desk hoping my coworkers wouldn’t see me crying.
I really hope that everyone who reads the Lottery of Life not only finds it entertaining but maybe even a little thought provoking. I don’t know if I will ever have the opportunity to write about something so meaningful again. I am sincerely happy with how it turned out and I feel that it is the first time I have not compromised and changed my story due to reviewers. I wrote the story I wanted to write and I am thankful the readers embraced it.
Summary: Bella has been blessed with the finer things in life. She has always been focused on what she has and never understanding that money doesn’t buy you everything. It will take one stupid bet and a homeless man to teach her what really is important in life. Can Edward get through to snobby Bella Swan and show her what she has been missing? Rated: M Romance/Humor Bella/Edward Complete
So, I found this new story and instantly feel in love with it. I loved it so much that I had to tell you all about it.
It’s called Read my Lips by purplec305.
Bella is a witness to the murder of the Mayor of Seattle, Marcus Tortuga, and it’s only a matter of time before the criminals responsible come after her to make sure she doesn’t talk.
Charlie, Bella’s father and chief at FBI headquarters, does what any concerned father would do in his position. He sends his best man, Agent Cullen, to collect her and bring her back to the safety of Washington where he can watch over her and protect her.
Edward takes the redeye and arrives at Bella’s apartment the next morning.
When they meet for the first time, they have an instant attraction towards one another, but do their best to try to suppress their feelings.
I mean… It’s not a good idea for Agent Cullen to be attracted to the chief’s daughter and the woman he has been sent to protect.
As for Bella, she’s never found herself interested in a man before, this is all new and strange for her…
He looked at me for a little while, his fingers gripping at his hair and blinking slowly. We stood there staring at each other for what seemed like hours, but couldn’t have been more then a few seconds. My hand twitched at my side to soothe out the wrinkle forming between his eyes and running my fingers through his hair in soothing motions. What was happening to me? I never reacted to a male like this before. Sure, he was good looking with his auburn hair and sexy green eyes, framed with long dark lashes. He looked to be a few years older than me, but the way his t-shirt was hugging his torso, I could tell he worked out. Well defined muscles were hidden under his shirt.
Not wanting to get caught staring at him like this, my face flushed slightly, and I snapped my eyes back to his face and caught him saying, “Un-fucking-believable!”
I can’t wait to find where this story is going to go, but with romance in the air and danger around the corner anything is possible.
Purplec305 you have my attention!
Summary: Nothing in Life is easy. What was supposed to be an easy task of protecting the boss’ daughter, turns out to be a run for their lives as someone tries to kill them. With his demons from the past and her insecurities, what happens when the line between Agent and Witness starts to blur? Romance/Angst Rated M for later chapters. Edward/Bella. HEA WiP
Burn Notice, from ifyouweremine, certainly has us hooked, so naturally we had to take notice of her latest offering, with the intriguing title, Lean into the Fall. In her opening A/N she shares, “Here is another plot bunny that wouldn’t go away. Like, BN, this one is different for me and will have a bit of everything, including later tragedy and angst, but I promise it will be okay in the end.” The first chapter posted this week, and already it’s fair to say, this one is different for us too.
Let’s meet Bella…
I have yet to experience the fall like my mom. She’s said that it’ll happen to me one day when I least expect it. However, at nearly sixteen, I haven’t fallen or tripped or even stumbled.
And I’m fine with that.
She may be fine with that, and tired of witnessing her mother fall all too often, but we are romantics at heart and are counting down the moments until Bella leans into the fall.
ifyouweremine tells us…
Lean into the Fall is inspired by some people of my youth. We all have those special memories with some unforgettable people, both good and bad.
Life is wonderful but not always sunshine and roses. This is one of those kinds of stories.
In the end, I hope everyone loves these characters and their story as much as I do.
We are sure we will, and we plan to hold on to that promise of it “being okay in the end.”
Summary: Bella is leery of falling in love. She soon learns that life is filled with countless forms and degrees of emotions. There is love, loss, healing, and everything in between. Canon couples. AH-OOC. TRAGEDY/ANGST Drama/Romance Rated: M Edward/Bella WiP
When Rochelle Allison posts a new story, we all open the link and read as fast as we can. We know it’ll be good and draw us right in to the vivid setting and exciting lives of the characters. And her new WitFit, Sear, is no different, as we meet a woeful thirty-year-old Bella, housesitting for her uncle in the snowbound woods, looking for peace and a “place to regain some emotional footing.” But, sometimes a “small thump” can change everything…
Another thump, softer this time. I jumped back, shaky, feeling a flame of adrenaline sear through me, wondering if I should call someone or just call out. I was about to do the latter when I heard a feeble voice.
Grasping the poker in my right hand, I unlocked and yanked the door open with my left. My heart, which had been frantic ’til then, nearly stopped with the slap of icy air that greeted me. It was so cold it burned, and I gasped.
But there, lying on the front porch, in grey sweatpants and a black sweatshirt, both dampened by snow and maybe sweat – I didn’t know – was the crumple of a man. …
“Hey, can you hear me?”
“Yeah,” he whispered after a moment, breathing shallowly.
“Can you…move? At all? I think you should take a hot bath or something.”
His eyes opened for a split second, brilliant green if not a little glazed over, before closing. “Okay,” he said, just a hint of voice.
And then he passed out.
Oh, no, but we wanted to see Bella give this bearded, freezing-cold stranger that hot bath! Join us for this searing new adventure and maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see just that…as it is a “Drama and romance, of course, but also… Rated: Fiction M.”
