Hello, and welcome once again!
We’re delighted our dear friend and Book Rec FicSister, Carrie Elks, has a new book release. Congratulations Carrie! Wishing you every success!
There’s also a whole host of other fic delights awaiting you. It’s time to get your KINK on…thanks to Cars1 for giving us the down and dirty details!
The inspiration for this little slice of crazy came as most of my stories do – from a conversation I had with my dear friend, MizzezPattinson. We were discussing bikes for her son’s birthday, and in doing so, I came across a bike brand called Kink. I was in the middle of writing another rather intense story, and felt the need for something fun and a bit ridiculous, without any angst or drama. I’m a firm believer there is enough of that in our real lives. Kink was only supposed to be ten chapters at most, a little diversion for me, but as is often the case, the characters seemed to want to keep talking to me.
The story is set in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada, where one cocky Edward Cullen owns a custom bike design shop with his brother, Emmett. His world is invaded by an opinionated, tattooed Bella Swan, who has moved from Ottawa to this small town on a whim after purchasing an ice cream truck.
“Who has conversations about lost vibrators with perfect strangers? Okay, not just any perfect stranger, an extremely hot yet cocky stranger who eye-fucked me (not that I minded), and who I think has a nipple piercing, if I’m not mistaken, and a tattoo peeking out from the sleeve of his t-shirt, but still. Who does that? Me, apparently.
Way to make a first impression in your new home town, Bella.
Yet, I have to say if the rest of the guys in Selkirk are even half as hot as the pretty boy with two days worth of stubble in the bike shop disguised as a sex store is, I’m going to really enjoy it here.
I start laughing louder at where my priorities are. I haven’t even gone to the grocery store yet, and have survived the last day on granola bars and flat Diet Pepsi left over from the drive from hell. Any other normal person would have made finding a grocery store a priority. Me? Nope. I need to replace my vibrator.”
Kilts, Passion Parties, Mudslides, bonfires, Jet Skis, vodka infused gummy bears, a carnival, summer fun, and a whole lot of steamy windows surround these two as our alpha-male Edward falls for this very stubborn Bella, or as he has nicknamed her, his Naughty One.
“Is this what you want, hmm?” I’m fighting to keep myself in check, never wanting to lose this feeling.
No response from my Naughty One, just the sensation of her fingers in my hair, tugging and pulling, her hips rolling to keep pace with mine. It’s raw and powerful, fuelling us both, and when she falls apart, pressed firmly against my chest, my name falling from her perfect lips, it’s the most intense feeling in the world.”
Music always plays a big part in my stories, and this one is no different. Many Canadian bands such as The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, and Hedley, along with classic Queen (the best rock band of all time in my opinion :)), Bon Jovi, Guns ‘n Roses, and Nirvana featured prominently when I wrote this story, their songs and lyrics playing a very large part in setting the mood.
At the end of the day, I needed to write something fun and drama free, and who doesn’t like a summer romance?
I hope you enjoy it.
Summary: It’s almost summer in Canada, and time for lots of drinking, warm days on the beach, and long, hot nights. Come, join me for a romp through the lives one cocky Edward Cullen, and one opinionated Bella Swan. Rated M … You know why. Complete.
Coming Down by Carrie Elks
Contemporary romance writer Carrie Elks, author of Fix You and Halfway Hidden, brings us another riveting story in her newest literary venture Coming Down.
With a rocky past finally behind her, twenty-eight-year-old Beth Lawrence has a fulfilling job at a London, England inner-city drug clinic; an affluent, caring husband, and a beautiful home. Is this really her, or has she compromised herself for safety and affection, rather than the danger of deep, raw love and passion? Now, nine years later, even though, “He’s one of the beautiful set; an artist,” her old flame, Irishman Niall Joseph, re-enters her life, bringing with him: painful memories and much unwanted heartache. And when their drug-influenced pasts collide with the present, in the form of a neglected child and her drug-addict mother, Beth and Niall struggle to maintain several balances.
The absorbing storyline is beautifully written and filled with loveable, real-world characters who we felt we knew. We were lost in their world, caring so much about them. We couldn’t put it down until we discovered exactly what happened on the Coming Down journey. “The line between friendship and desire must not be broken.”
An original and compelling story. We loved it!

Joan Wagner: Super good story Dreaming of You by KaiaLuna.
Summary: Nothing is as important to Bella as the friend she’s found in Alice. She loves her, loves Edward, loves the whole family. They are the future she wants so what life is dreaming of? Who is the man, the family, that haunts her dreams, cloaked in shadows? Dreams are important, they reveal the secrets we’re afraid to face, the truth that changes everything. Family/Romance Rated:T Alice, Bella, Jasper, Maria WiP
Nadine Harding: The fic Dark Paradise by allihavetodoisdream is wonderful. Short dabble like chapters but the author has a talent for painting a vivid picture with very few words. I love all of her work – please check it out! (If you haven’t already.)
Summary: She lives in a make-believe world of open roads and endless freedom to escape an addiction-riddled mother and a grabby older man with sick intentions. Adrift in a place of uncaring hearts, she makes her getaway. She finds a ratty old motel, late night smokes, a new life, and a boy with a past as clouded as her own. A boy with a dark gentleness too beautiful to ignore. Hurt/Comfort/Angst Rated: M WiP
Selena P: Copy Room by Edward’s Eternal ~ This is such a sweet and sexy story. EE can do no wrong for me, but this had me gasping for all the right reasons and hoping that the mystery man that Bella can’t resist was a nice guy, too.
Summary: Sometimes flippant words are really the truth spoken out loud. What happens when someone overhears you and decides to give you what you secretly want but never knew? Romance/Hurt/Comfort Rated: M Bella & Edward Complete
Our thanks to Joan Wagner, Nadine Harding, and Selena P, for sharing with us today.
tiffanyanne3 and SunKing, under their joint account, MollyRamone, tell us they are, “Just two camogs who think Edward Cullen and hurling are a match made in heaven.” Mmmh, some of the FicSisters know a thing or two about this hallowed game, so with thoughts of a sweating Edward, hair glistening with perspiration clinging to his neck; his rippling chest and back muscles straining against his jersey; his strong, powerful legs running at great speed, and propelling him towards the heavens; and the cherry on top of this delicious image, those long slender talented fingers wrapped around his hurley… Sorry, what were we saying? Oh, yes! We wholeheartedly agree – Edward Cullen and hurling are very much a match made in heaven! *It’s suddenly very hot in here.*
So, to the story… American Bella doesn’t have a drop of green blood in her, but she loves all things Irish to the point of obsession. As she eyed up Edward in a bar in New York, she considered the man beautiful – with his tall lanky frame, a strong, slightly scruffy jaw, and the brightest green eyes she’d ever seen, but it was when he spoke, that she fell directly into lust. Later on, he proves to be a bit of a charmer, although, not so much with one of his opening lines…
What’re ye grinning’ at like a cat with a cream-flavored arsehole?
Gah! You’ve got to love him! There’s more to this story than boy meets girl, though. Edward’s reason for being in America is not a simple one – he’s doing what he considers the wrong thing for the right reason. Or perhaps that’s the right thing for the wrong reason? Either way, he’s playing a dangerous game, and we don’t just mean the hurling. Bella has to decide if she can put up with feckin’ Jane and the associated shenanigans. That’s a given really, as let’s be honest, who could resist this Edward’s many charms? Admittedly, the ‘Oirish’ is laid on with a trowel hurley, but it’s great craic!
Take a look at this video below to discover the magic of the game.
Summary: He says he’s just here to play, but what’s his game? Bella thinks she’s got his number, but she has no idea. A story about Irish sports, Irish accents, and the Irish mafia, all set in America. Humor/Romance Rated: M Bella & Edward WiP
I first read Life, Love and Madame Esme as part of the January 2013 Drabble War I’d been involved in. I already knew and enjoyed Mina’s work and looked forward to her contribution.
The story is a Twilight crossover – Esme based on a character to the movie Sex and Mrs X. I haven’t seen the movie, but very much enjoyed the story about a woman who, after her marriage breaks down, accepts an assignment to interview a Parisian Madame.
Bella’s life has just been turned upside down when she finds her husband in bed with another woman on her birthday, and in her own home, his actions destroying their ten year marriage.
Six months later and she has written her first successful novel, and is on the lookout for inspiration for the next. That’s when she’s offered the chance to go to Paris and spend time with Madame Esme – and thus her next project is borne.
From the moment she sees a picture of Esme, Bella is intrigued by the beautiful, refined woman. Although, initially, Bella is wary as she assumes she will be profiling the owner of a brothel, she is drawn into Esme’s world, not only getting to know and love her, but the girls she’s taken in. Bella comes to discover Esme has good intentions with these girls and has often saved them from a life with no future, and loves and cares for them all a great deal.
“Isabella,” she chuckled, shaking her head. “I do not set up sex. I set up the dream.”
“Romance, companionship, devotion… Almost anyone can get sex. Sex is easy.”
Everything changes with Bella’s plan to uncover Esme’s secrets, once she meets her nephew and the photographer she’ll be working with, Edward. From then on, she forgets her old life and immerses herself in the new as she slowly unfolds Esme’s life.
Along the way, she finds a good friend and confidante in Esme as well as the love of her life in Edward. But of course, nothing is at it seems, and Bella comes to discover she’s not the only one who carries baggage from the past.
Set in Paris, the city of love, the story takes us on a journey where Bella not only discovers she can be on her own, but be truly happy and in love for the first time.
I really enjoyed this story. Not only was Edward absolutely gorgeous (I couldn’t get enough of his French/English accent) I loved Esme’s strength, poise and determination to see everyone she cared for happy.
Summary: Isabella is a successful writer, whose life is thrown into disarray when her husband leaves her for another woman. To escape her routine life, she accepts an assignment to interview a Parisian Madame. Isabella believes this Madame is running a brothel and vows to expose her for what she is, but Isabella will soon discover that Madame Esme has different plans for her. Romance/Hurt/Comfort Rated: M Bella & Edward Complete
Our tummies rumbled appreciatively, and salivation commenced the moment we heard the gorgeous Edward’s Eternal was planning to add a couple of chapters, that were first donated to worthwhile fandom charities, to one of our favourite one shots, The Missing Ingredient.
Perhaps the missing ingredient referenced in the title is what’s missing from Edward and Bella’s lives, but from a FicSister POV, it’s a misnomer, as there’s nothing missing from this story.
Discerning Chefward tickles our taste buds in a most delicious way as he tackles the task of awakening McDonald’s-loving Bella’s palate. Along the way these adorable, intelligent characters turn up the heat in the kitchen with their, “rich, dark and molten” tasting. Are they the perfect order for each other? We think so! Their story is sensual, with a side of humour, a twist of sexy, served with just the right amount of sweetness.
Go on, indulge; this fic is finger-licking good! Dare we say it? “We are lovin’ it.” 😉
The third installment has been donated to Fandom4Christy – there is still time to sign up to receive the compilation.
Summary: Chef Edward is used to people fawning over his cuisine. Enter Bella. She would far rather grab a cheeseburger at her favorite place- McDonald’s. What is Chefward to do but try and show her the errors of her ways? But can she teach him anything? Romance/Humor Rated:M Bella & Edward
One of the magical things about this fandom is there’s always a new face, a new author with a new fic, full of hope and promise! It’s lovely.
So, when we bump into a sweet treasure whose first fic has us signing up for the duration, we can’t resist shouting from the rooftops about it. Who is it? Well, it’s the delightful KoalaLou with Tougher Than the Rest.
Determined to relax, have a well deserved night off from responsibility at her childhood friend’s wedding, Bella meets Edward. Ahhhh, sweet attraction and delicious flirting abound…but this story runs deeper than that. KoalaLou is keeping us intrigued as we puzzle over the secret Bella is clearly keeping to herself. She is a beautiful mystery, but an open heart. We’re all hoping our lovely Bella can escape the loneliness that seems to surround her; we can’t wait to see her story unfold – both her past and her future.
If anyone can get her to open up, it will be this Edward, intelligent, thoughtful, but fun. He’s an insightful and very sexy guy…we’d definitely unburden our souls to him! *winks*
At only three chapters in, the FicSisters think you’ll want to get on board with this one. Take our word for it – KoalaLou is definitely a name to watch!
Show her some love, tell her we sent you…let’s make sure our new authors know they’re supported!
Summary: Tougher Than The Rest: I didn’t expect my weekend to consist of anything more than a family wedding…then I met Bella and my world was blown apart. Could I accept her reality, once I’d finally learned what that even was? A/H Rated: M Romance Bella & Edward WiP
