We must confess that we are excited for today’s post, as we present an introduction to a much anticipated Hollywood sequel… Let’s get right to some wonderful Tried-and-True Reading!
True Confessions is back! I had so much fun working on True Confessions of a Coffee Girl, so I was thrilled to be asked to work on the sequel as well. The mostly light-hearted story of Eddie and his coffee girl continues to entertain long after the first story ends.
Deebelle1 has brought back our favorite characters—and some not-so-favorite ones—in the sequel: True Confessions of a Hollywood Dad.
That’s right; Eddie and his coffee girl are going to be parents! This story takes place about three years after we last left the duo, happily married, hopelessly in love and ready to start a family. We’ll get to follow along with Eddie as he learns all about pregnancy and parenthood with real life situations. How will he handle hormone swings and late night cravings? Will he listen to the advice of his brother Emmett?
Since this story is told from Edward’s point of view, each chapter begins with a “true confession” of what he’s learned, and then we’ll get to see what it really means.
Confession #1: There is nothing better than knowing your little shooters could hit their mark, but What to Expect When You’re Expecting is the Devil for all mankind.
With the books downloaded to my tablet, I began reading What to Expect…I figured it was the best place to start.
Boy was I wrong.
We just found out we were expecting and already this book was talking about birth plans. I shuddered and moved on to the next chapter which was no better. Was there anything in this book that wasn’t going to scare the living daylights out of me?
I shook my head and closed out of the book. Next up was Dude, You’re Gonna Be a Dad!I liked this book because of the cartoon ‘sperm’ on the cover. It made me laugh.
The biggest thing I learned from the little bit that I scanned was that whatever Bella wanted, it was my responsibility to get it for her or make it happen. A pregnant woman should never stress, so my main priority was making sure she was happy, relaxed, and glowing.
Join Eddie and coffee girl as they mark the growth of their little coffee bean, both inside the womb and out, and find out all the surprises that are in store for this actor-turned-Daddy.
Summary: I was content in the limelight until a coffee girl flipped my world upside down. Titles like ‘Academy Award Winner’ and the ‘People’s Choice’ used to mean everything, but it’s my newest title that I cherish the most…the Hollywood Dad. This is the sequel to True Confessions of a Coffee Girl. Romance/Family Rated M Bella/Edward WIP
Coming of age tales appeal to a lot of us, I think, because we can relate to the character’s struggles. We all had to grow up at some point. While certain specifics might be different, for the most part we remember high school and crushes, the highs of the good times and the all encompassing disappointment of the low times.
In this story, Bella is no different – except that her epic crush leads her to make a series of decisions that lead to very serious consequences, forcing her to grow up fast. And while she technically isn’t in it alone, as a result of Edward’s choices…she is.
What I love about Looking Back is that besides being extremely well written, it remains true: the angst hits hard, but never crosses into melodramatic, and because the characters are well defined, we can understand their choices – even if we don’t always agree with them. I root for Bella when she’s empowered and mad, and I melt with her when she begins to thaw. There’s forgiveness and redemption, but also learning lessons.
This is one story I always look forward to.
Author: RachelFish ~ Summary: She knew when she met him she wouldn’t be able to deny him anything. Is that how she ended up pregnant at 16 and left to handle it alone? Bella raises her daughter with the help of her family… but what about the person who matters most? Romance/Angst Rated M Edward/Bella WIP
The lovely Lellabeth is generously writing Sky Full of Stars as a birthday gift for the lucky sophiacorgi. It’s different, powerful, enticing and oh-so intriguing– this is DaddyKink with a twist. We asked Lellabeth to share the inspiration behind her characters and this particular pairing.
I’ve always been fascinated with the power love has to heal. In Sky Full of Stars, both Edward and Garrett have been scarred by life – Garrett outwardly during his time as a soldier, and Edward by things that happened when he was younger. Though finding love won’t erase that pain for either of them, it will allow them to move past it and into a better phase of their life. I love that. It’s what each of us hopes to find, and it makes me happy to write. Though the story focuses somewhat on the kink aspect of their relationship that’ll come out in later chapters, at its roots I want SFoS to be a love story. The pairing is because love is the same no matter who it grows between, whether that be a man and a woman or two men. And let’s face it, the idea of Edward and Garrett getting it on is pretty damn hot.
The opening lines…
He sucks his thumb like he’s sucking a cock.
In and out, tongue lapping, cheeks hollowed. It’s arousing and so fucking vulgar, obscene even, the way his mouth wraps around it. On a couple of passes he’s sucked so hard that the whole of the thumb has disappeared inside, those full pink lips pressing against the fold of skin where it meets his hand. The knuckle in the middle catches against his teeth when he drags it back out, just a little flash of white that sparks images of them scraping over the head of a cock.
Oh yeah, we agree, pretty damn hot!
Summary: Wounded by life and war, Garrett’s looking for solace in the arms of someone who’ll help him make sense of the world he’s returned to. Edward’s been living on the fringes for years, but the scarred man he meets makes him want to step back into the open. Daddy-kink. Hurt/Comfort/Romance Rated M Edward/Garrett WIP

Divy Vicki: A Dry Heat and the sequeal, A Bitter Cold, by LovinRob: They have it all – angst, drama, villains, true friendship and family.
Summary: (A Dry Heat) When Bella moves from New York City to the California desert to care for her ailing grandmother she never expected that she would meet the man of her dreams. A man that would set her heart, body and soul on fire. But this man comes with a price, a heavy price. Will their love be able to survive the life he had before her or will it melt away in the dry heat. Romance/Angst Rated M Bella/Edward Complete The sequel is a WIP
Johanna: I know bannerday was featured a while ago when Indelible started but I want to scream at everyone to read it, she’s amazing – and her writing is perfection…this story takes me from smiles to tears and my hurt is hurting right now. Go. Read. It.
Summary: Some experiences, some people, stick with you forever, leaving their mark on your memories. You can’t escape what they meant to you and you can’t re-write the past. It’s indelible. But the future isn’t set in stone…it’s yours to write. A story about forks in the road of life and a past with a future. Drama/Romance Rated M Bella/Edward WIP
DreamyAngela: Liquor, Lube, and Latex by Livie79: OMG! Naughty, hot and funny, I reread this for a quick escape from everything!
Summary: (Liquor, Lube and Latex) It’s his birthday and I’m giving him the one thing he really wants. AH ExB M for Smut. Smut, smut, smut. Romance/Humor Rated M Bella, Edward – Complete
Our thanks to Divy Vicki, Johanna and DreamyAngela for sharing these recs with us.
It’s as “Simple as This”… This adorable T-rated senior high school story by bicyclesarecool flows beautifully, as it presents a blossoming friendship between a tender, caring Edward and a lonely and lost but sweet Bella. The depth of these characters is evident as they connect through Art History and more; as they share and learn about each other’s life and interests.
Now, after seven chapters, we also see there’s real potential for a budding romance, which we are anxious to materialize. And it’s after a party, which Edward invites Bella to, but she leaves early after feeling like he has other interests, that he seeks her out, at her home, at 3 AM – so maybe there is more to Edward’s intentions, after all…
Edward is taking big steps towards me and when he reaches me, his grin is impossibly big. He sits down with a thud on the stoop, pulling me down with him.
“You’re drunk,” I say, bumping his shoulder with my own. He scoffs.
“Hardly at all anymore,” he says sadly.
“Where’s Jessica?” I ask.
“She left, I don’t know. Speaking of Jess—you abandoned me with her and all I can say is: what kind of friend are you?” I can’t stop my laughter and he dissolves into giggles next to me.
“I mean,” I gasp. “I thought you liked her—you guys looked pretty cozy coming outside earlier. I didn’t want to intrude on anything.” I bite my lip, maybe I’ve said too much, maybe I’ve crossed a line. He rolls his eyes.
“Jess is okay,” he says slowly, taking a deep breath. “But I didn’t want to hang out with her; I wanted to hang out with you.”
My heart is pounding and he looks like a mess, to be honest. His hair is all over the place, like he’s been running his hands through it all night. His eyes are droopy and his nose is shiny with grease and he’s managed to get his sweatshirt impossibly wrinkled.
He’s still so beautiful and his voice is impossibly deep and more scratchy than usual.
I don’t respond, but I can’t stop staring at him, and he’s staring at me too, his smile is small but it’s so, so beautiful.
“Bella,” he says.
“Yes?” I breathe.
“Tell me something about yourself. I don’t know anything about you.” I sigh and think his request over, trying my best to come up with anything interesting about myself.
We know she has lots interesting to share, and if you read along with us, you will also learn what a gem of a Bella she truly is. It’s as simple as that.
Summary: Bella Swan is just trying to get through her senior year; she doesn’t want to talk about her absent mother or the amount of art books on her bookshelf. Especially not to Edward Cullen. Sometimes things aren’t as complicated as they seem. A story of lost and found. exb, ah, ooc.
There are some authors who can seem to do no wrong. Who have the innate ability to craft a story that not only tugs at your heart strings, but stays with you for days afterwards. For me, Spanglemaker9 was one of those authors. With stories such as The Art Teacher, and The Girl with the Red Umbrella, she created worlds that immediately dragged me in. So when I saw she had released an original fiction, I was absolutely delighted to snap it up.
Always by Amanda Weaver tells the story of Justine James and Dillon Pierce. At the beginning, Justine is an aspiring singer, tied down to a humdrum band. Dillon, on the other hand, is in the midst of success, riding on the tails of a successful album and the darlings of their record label. From the start we see the trappings that come with such instant fame: the groupies, the drugs, and the chance that one wrong decision will make it all disappear.
In Justine, Amanda Weaver has created a truly admirable heroine. She’s feisty yet sensitive, driven yet full of heart. The sort of character you root for, no matter what. I loved how strong, yet vulnerable she was.
As for Dillon. Wow. He makes mistakes, takes a few wrong turns, but there’s something so strong about him. Not just his creativity, although that’s sexy enough, but also his loyalty, his friendship and the way he finally pulls himself out of the holes he digs himself.
The book spans a number of years, and for me it was epic in the best sense of the word. It makes you work for the ending you need it to be. Sometimes my heart was aching so hard, but the story pulled me along. It was anything but predictable and I really loved that. It kept me turning, page after page, long after I should have been asleep. While it is a story that shows the dark side of fame, it’s also a love story. And it’s angsty and delicious.
Always is Amanda Weaver’s first published novel, but from the first few words you can tell it isn’t her first attempt at writing. Far from it. From the beginning she pulls the reader in, spinning a tale of unrequited love, and two main characters so full of life it’s hard to believe they aren’t real. If you haven’t already read it, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s everything I want in a book and so much more.

This is my Comp Sem 101 Golfward when he can’t stand not to be touching- or more specifically, kissing- his Bella. I’ll be honest; this is not the story I would have chosen to represent my best writing. It’s one of my early ones, but it was also the most autobiographical and probably the most beloved by my readers. (I asked!) Each chapter was one week out of a freshman year composition seminar at a New England college where a golf scholarship athlete meets English major Bella, who finds herself motivated by the first time to get in shape and get healthy. The two are paired as writing partners, and through the creative writing assignments, they get to know- and of course, LOVE- each other. I’ll warn you- the POV shifts abound, and if I had to do it over again, that’s what I’d change.
I’ll admit, I still bring this Edward with me every time I step onto a golf course, and I find him to be wonderful, calming company. I hope you will enjoy this sweet, low-angst, semi-true tale of a love that started freshman year and is still going strong 30 years later.
Summary: What happens when a scholarship athlete and an English major from opposite coasts meet in a freshman writing seminar? Will they be drawn together or forced apart by their weekly discoveries of themselves and each other? All human college coeds! Romance/Friendship Rated M Edward/Bella Complete
We go from an oldie but goldie from bornonhalloween, to her latest offering. What can we say? She hasn’t lost her touch!
The dial tone of Wrong Number is sure to put a smile on your face as it connects straight to your personal fantasy. Truth be told, you may also be willing to sell your own granny for the chance to be in Bella’s shoes…for more than one very valid reason. For starters, she is the production manager for the hottest men’s underwear video team her side of the planet. For another, Bella has a rather strong crush on Edward Cullen, a famous romance writer. Bella tries to convince us she loves Edward because of his mind. Perhaps in the same way so many of us love a certain actor solely for his thespian talents.
Why did the man have to be so damn striking? She would have loved him anyway—and did, in fact—from the first descriptive passage of Niagra’s lonely heart in the very first book in his sci-fi-rom-com series, Planets Between Us. She loved Edward Cullen long before Hyline Productions bought the rights to the movie, before the whole world fell in love with his characters—and very shortly after, with him. In fact, she was probably the only woman on this planet who truly loved him for his mind.
Damn his glowing emerald balls of fire for eyes and geometrically-chiseled chin and crazy fresh-out-of-the-sheets hair, and most of all, damn those fidgety, elegant fingers that always turned up in the most awkward places in pictures—zippers and back pockets and foreheads and napes. Damn the Facebook groups with his pictures plastered all over the place so that any undeserving girl with even minimally functioning lady parts would be drawn to him.
And just between us girls, Bornonhalloween shared in her FB group the little nugget that idolized author Edward, is looking for a real girl to love. Mmmmh! Born also says ‘Wrong Number’ is sweet and fluffy, and hints strongly at a HEA.We have to share, because we know you will want to know this deliciously important fact: this story is rated M for naughty situations! 😉
Summary: A wrong number dialed in a panicked moment might just lead to HEA. Edward/Bella, sweet and fluffy with a dash of humor. Romance/Humor Rated M Bella/Edward WIP
Love a Sportsward? How about when Edward and Bella have a ‘history’ that needs to be discovered by the reader? Check and check? Well, our fellow FicSisters, you are going to love Designated Hitter, the intriguing, and wonderfully written WIP story by esmegrace.
The story starts in the present day where Bella is a dedicated Orthopedic Surgeon who has worked incredibly hard to be where she is. You get the feeling that her job is her life and her life is her job, if you get our gist. Things suddenly get a little complicated though, when a certain copper-haired baseball player from her past strolls into the clinic…
“…I wish I could say the voice was unfamiliar. I wish I could say that I didn’t recognize the rich baritone immediately, but I can’t, even if it had been six years since the last time I’d heard it in person. I’d indulged in it many times on the television during that time. My head whipped back to its source instantly…
…I took a moment to study him. His copper colored hair was in disarray as usual, as if he’d just run his hands through it. A hint of a tan made his green eyes seem impossibly more verdant. He was wearing a white button up linen shirt untucked over a pair of jeans. I couldn’t see his feet, but I knew he’d be wearing sandals or flip-flops. He’d once told me that he hated shoes and avoided them at all cost, a consequence of growing up used to Texas winters. I closed my eyes briefly hoping I’d open them and find this all a figment of my imagination.”
There are so many things to love about Designated Hitter, not least being the irresistible Edward and the independent, strong, but also fragile Bella esmegrace has created here. We won’t list the others, but rest assured, it has all the bases covered – if you’ll pardon the pun!
Summary: Orthopedic surgeon, Bella Swan encounters the last person she ever expected to see again on Valentine’s Day no less. Can she remain professional with Major League pitcher, Edward Masen, given their pasts? WIP
Nearly all FanFic connoisseurs already know that anything written by the super-talented Drotuno is amazing, and today we want to share the pure joy we felt when reading Nature of Love.
Nature of Love is one of Drotuno’s earlier stories, but her mastery of the written word was clear even then. It is beautifully written, has wonderful deep, multifaceted characters and a plotline that will keep you up into the wee hours reading.
Bella, and her dog Maggie, are hiking the Appalachian Trail for Bella’s work as a photojournalist. The hike is an escape of sorts for Bella who is gladly getting away from her cheating ass of an ex, Mike. On the first day of her escape, oh sorry – we mean hike, she meets the two gorgeous Cullen brothers, Edward and Emmett. Mike who??
The story evolves and grows as we get to know these fascinating characters. Drotuno has a pure talent for creating the best Edwards, and Nature of Love’s Edward is no exception. He is complex, haunted, sweet, loving and hotter than Hades. Oh, and just occasionally he can be an ass, but you will still love him anyway!
Summary: Hiking through the Appalachian Trail, Bella meets 2 brothers, 1 with a dark past. This is an adventure about friendships, love, loss and finding yourself. And just maybe finding more than you expected. AH/canon couples/Rated M Complete
